‘Deca Dick’ and How to Avoid It

By George Touliatos, MD

Q: How do you avoid the so-called “Deca dick” and is this legitimate?

A: Usually when we use the two 19-nortestosterone derivatives, nandrolone and its derivative, trenbolone, prolactin may elevate since they both have some progestational activity. However, prolactinemia is also favored by an estrogenic environment when we use other aromatizing agents as well, such as testosterone and metandienone (Dianabol). But other factors might also contribute to prolactinemia (high TSH, weed, stress, insomnia, opiates). Prolactin antagonizes testosterone but also is responsible of anorgasmia; in other words, the lack of ejaculation. So in case we either use Deca, or tren, or even both together (NPP and tren acetate), we have to use double amount of testosterone and keep the ratio between T/D into 2/1. If sex drive is not an issue, then we can keep the ration between T/D-1/1.
