Rogue Fitness has issued the call. On Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, Rogue unveiled the first event of the 2023 Rogue Challenge series on social media. The Echo Hammer Challenge is simple enough — pedal as many calories as possible in five minutes on a Rogue Echo Bike at any time between Jan. 20 – 23, and then post your result for the world to see.
The Echo Hammer challenge represents the first official event of the 2023 Challenge season, in which Rogue will welcome recreational athletes and professional competitors alike to partake in their athletic events for a chance at cash prizes, bragging rights, and a whole lot more.

According to the Challenge webpage, Rogue is aiming at a year-long worldwide call to action in fitness, similar to the CrossFit Open:
“In the Rogue Challenge, anyone, anywhere, is welcome to sign-up and compete for a spot on the leaderboard or a page in the record books,” they note online.
How It Works
According to their website, the Echo Hammer is but the first task in the Challenge season. Rogue hopes that it will reward “hard work and consistency” across a variety of athletic disciplines (note that Rogue has yet to specify what further challenges await participants).
Here’s a breakdown of what you have to do to participate in the 2023 Challenge, beginning with the Echo Hammer:

Register for the challenge online. This includes paying a $10 registration fee before your results can be submitted.
Submit a video of your performance to Rogue’s “BTWB” app in accordance with the rules of each individual challenge within the specified timeframe.
Points will be awarded according to where your performance falls on the overall leaderboard. Weight and age divisions are combined; leaderboards are divided by sex.

2023 Rogue Challenge Prizes
At the closure of the 2023 Challenge Season, the top three men and women who rank at the top of their respective overall leaderboards will receive the following prizes:

$15,000
$10,000
$5,000

First, second, and third-place finishers will also receive a custom-made Ohio or Bella barbell in addition to the cash purse.
Bring the Hammer Down
Rogue hopes that this year’s Challenge season will serve as an effective expansion of the Rogue Record Breakers events, which debuted initially in 2015 and went virtual four years later in 2019. While the Echo Hammer challenge is very straightforward, that by no means makes it easy.
An all-out, five-minute barrage on the Echo bike will test leg strength, cardiovascular endurance, general conditioning and, perhaps most critically of all, pain tolerance. As of yet, there’s no knowing what Rogue has cooked up for subsequent challenges, but the competition is sure to be as grueling as the Echo bike itself.
