When do you use straps?

I only use them for deadlifts and sometimes shrugs if I put them last in my routine. Others say to stear from them because they will slow the progress on forearm strenght.

When do you use them, if any?
 
yeah bro I always use them - shrugs, rows, pull-downs. I can use twice the weight with straps. I am not worried about forearm development cause right now my fore's almost overpower my bi's.
 
I use them on the heavy weight lifts. If I am doing partials I use them. Shrugs, Deadlifts, Lat pulldowns,Lat rows are usually the ones that I need the extra grip on.
 
any of the "pulling" exercises: shrugs, pulldowns, deads, but only if my grip fails before the rest of me does. i.e. only on heavy days.

shit, I just like wearing the damned things!

Both of mine tore in half today while I was shrugging......dropping 500 pounds was quite noisy...lol....I still went heavier though

That's pretty hard core...lol.

I saw this dude shrugging 875lbs at venice beach this last weekend. I thought they were pretty sloppy, but props to the guy for doing it. I highly doubt I could lift that much weight off the ground.

I wonder what kind of shit that guy was running...heh. He was fairly big. maybe 5'11 - 220-230lbs ~7-8%bf

I use them when my wrists are fried. Mainly during upright rows and shrugs at max weight.

#540 is my max on shrugs (set of 10). I tried more than that and pulled a muscle in my neck. Have not tried more since then. No need really!
