    Default Using chains to workout

Has anyone used chains to help increase strength and power out of the hole?? The new gym I'm at has chains that you can attach to the barbell and I see a couple of guys using it. I know powerlifters tend to use techniques like this but what about bb'ers??

I have no idea what they weigh either, anybody have an idea?

I'm thinking about using it on a flat bench for chest and maybe the squat rack.

Silly me, I thought the chains were just so that the holders weren't stolen!

Saw a couple guys using them last week, but I had no idea the concept behind it. Bump for more info.

nah, no place to hook them in with the mirrors and trapeze already on the ceiling. And I will NOT take out the brass stripper pole either!

The idea behind chains is the closer you are to locking out the weight the heavier the chains get, because theyre hangin from the bar to the ground. Its a way to increase the top end of your lift, not coming out of the hole. Its the same concept as box squats, kind of.

ahh...makes more sense for top end power you're correct. I knew that the more chain off the floor meant the heavier it got, but I guess I wasn't thinking when I said "power out of the hole" lol!!
