Hey guys, was reading an article from Mike Menzer a while back talking about dieting. He stated, which i somewhat agree with is that it doesnt matter what u eat, ratios, foods etc, but as long as your calories are in the negative and your doing cardio and weight training u will loose weight. He even said that he got ready for a competition by eating ice cream and something else. Now, he wasnt known to have a humming bird metabo... so what gives? I also read one bodybuilder who used to only eat like every other day and lost weight for a competiton. Said he would eat like 6 or 700 calories of protein and fruit, then the next day eat like 4000 calories. He said his trick was he always ate something every 3 hours, even on his light eating days. So have u guys heard of anyone doing this? That doesnt have a fast metabo that is? Whats some of your strangiest dieting habits that actually worked?

Well, these guys had killer genetics so it doesn't surprise me much. The pro's and all time greats could have done anything just about and grown.

But he is right about the negative calorie thing. I just wouldn't advocate eating a shit load of ice cream to loose weight. lol. You would be better off eating stuff with a better nutrient content. If you control your diet you wont have to work as hard with your cardio/training.

Yes, I could see how losing weight would be possible. He is right, as long as your calories are below your requirements, weightloss occers. The problem is that you would also be losing a tremendous amount of muscle. That is what is so tricky about dieting. Muscle has an incredible metabolic demand and achieving the balance between fat loss and muscle sparing is the ultamite test. Bump for any other opinions...

Ya same here, i kinda figured that u would loose a heck of a lot of muscle doing it that way. Mentzer didnt say about the muscle to fat ratio, but the other bodybuilder used that type of diet to get ready for competition. OF course i am sure he was on a shitload of AAS too. Of course he aslo said he did eat tons of protein with that type of diet that i wrote about above. Althought he kinda had one good day and one eat all u want day. Which was really odd. Anyways anymore opinions? Bump

anything's possible bro but the old timer's didn't know nearly as much as we all know today. That being said genetics and AAS use play a huge role and activity level and metabolic rate are all very unique. I eat ice cream all the time while I'm dieting but putting a scoop of low fat ice cream into a shake is a lot different than eatiing a gallon of ice cream!

calories in calories out.If you burn off more than you take in you will lose weight.

from this scientifically true statement, Menzter was making his comments.

but, its very easy to go over your caloric intake with high-fat/high-sugar foods. You can literally eat 2 or 3 times as much clean food without going over that set caloric dieting limit.

I also believe that if he was trying to say he and other pros do it, that he is full of shit. Alot of pros says off the wall shit that aint true, its part of the "game". Like arnold drinking whiskey with his protein shakes  and other bullshit statements.
