HRT protocol

Lets just say that you are tired of dealing with doctors who do not want to help you with your low testosterone levels that have been proven with a blood test and you wanted to do your on prescribing? What dose would you start at and would you take anything else(AI). When would you decide to go up or down in dosing? I will still be going every 6 months to get blood work done and such.

Total test 302.43 Range 350-890
Testosterone, % Free 1.9 Range 1.6-2.9
Testosterone, free 58.4 Range 47.0-244.0

Sex Hormone binding Globulin 34 Range 13-71

From your results, I can see why the docs are unwilling to help. It's being more accepted now that the free testosterone result is the more accurate picture of what's going on, and though your result is on the low side, the percentage is still within the range. The factors they don't take into account is how the patient feels. A good doctor will take this into account. Some people need a higher testosterone level to feel normal, it's a fact, but many doctors just want to cover their own asses because testosterone is classified as a schedule III substance.

If you were going to take matters into your own hands to do HRT, hypothetically, you'd probably want to start around 100mg/week or 200mg/2 weeks. That's probably a dosage that any doctor would give you. The first option is better because it maintains more stable blood levels of the hormone, but you can get by with doing bi-weekly. Because this will still shut down a lot of your normal production, it's a good idea to be using 50mg of clomid every week as an anti-estrogen and to help the testes keep producing, and also at least 500iu HCG every three days.

I have clomid on hand and you say 50mg a week?? Do you think the hcg will be needed as I do not plan on coming off. I am 41 and have been dealing with this for the last 5 or 6 years. Lots of cycles from 28 to 35 ( I mean I have tried pretty much everything). Nothing as far as steroids from 35 until now. I just want to feel like a man again.:upset:

Yes, that's exactly what my doc has me on. My doc has also had me on HCG even though my wife and I don't plan on getting her pregnant. It's more to do with the functioning of the testes. I'd still be on it if I could afford it, but it's possible to do without it.

100 mg a week is what I use. I have had tons of blood work done at different times and doses. 100mg actually puts me a little over the top range when I was tested two days after the shot, but I am about mid range 1 week later. My suggestion would be to keep looking to find a good doctor that knows what they are doing. The only way to really know what is right for you is how you feel and by getting blood work done. I am with saudes, I would use HCG also if possible.
