im sure its because im dieting and i have no brain function but generally when im dieting and i need to eat 7 oz of chk and 1 cup of rice i will weigh 7 oz of RAW chk and then cook, ill cook rice and scoop out 1 cup of rice AFTER its cooked

i was at the gym talking to some guys and half of them do what i do and the other half was like no you cook your meat first then weigh, or you measure out your rice/oatmeal DRY then cook.

what the hell! have i been doing it wrong this whole time????!!!

Culinarily speaking, meat is usually weighed raw. However, the difference is going to be negligible. The most important thing is that you do it the same way every time and just make adjustments from there. Some products, like the bag of chicken thighs I just bought for example, have raw and cooked weight on the back, which makes it convenient. There is also a great site Nutrition facts, calories in food, labels, nutritional information and analysis – NutritionData.com which has listings for just about anything you can think of, raw, cooked or otherwise.

I've always done cooked. That's what I'm actually consuming and that's what I've always done. Besides, you're talking weight on the meat and volume on the rice.

Yea, The Dude brings up a good point, with the rice, you're not going by weight so I don't know if that helps or not, but 1 cup of uncooked rice would be more than 1 cup of cooked rice also. I guess now that I think about it, the same goes for meat as well
