Heart Health: What A body Builder Should Test and Watch regarding His Heart?

Ill admit it I have some sharp fast pain that hits once and a while ( sometimes I can make it happen with a deep breath)

Im going in Monday for a standard EKG Cost $65 worth it IMO. I just want to know what else a BB should be getting checked out heart wise to make sure all is well besides a EKG?

I could not see anything on this searching around wondering if you all have some thoughts?

IMO, all bb'ers should get regular metabolic panels plus cholesterol checks, and if on AAS, blood work every 6 months to check RBC count, etc. It isn't just the heart that you need to watch out for.

What to test

As Big Z said you do want to pay attention to your liver and kidneys as well. I haven't used them but someone else recommended Privatemdlabs.com. Get the female hormone panel and lipids and you'll know a lot. I'm gonna use them after I do my first cycle. I'll report back then. They had plenty of locations, at least in California.

Got the EKG done today. everything is great. I learned a little but about them. They can tell you if you have had any heart troubles in the past. like a history down load report if you will hehe

Got my labs done today soon. Ill post them as soon as I get them in a new thread.

feels good to have a "green light" to start my new cycle. here I go......

The ultimate heart test is the ultrafast CT scan. It takes a scan of your coronary arteries in 1 heartbeat. The reason is to minimize the amount of radiation going into your chest. A radiologist then interprets it to see if you have any plaque buildup in your coronary arteries. The downside is you have to be recommended by a cardiologist to the radiology center to get the test.
The usual cholesterol tests are not reliable. A good example of this is the NBC newsman Tim Russert who died of a massive heart attack at age 55 a couple of years ago. His doctor and 2 cardiologists were on the Larry King show and his doctor said all of Russert's blood tests were normal. There was no sign from any of the tests he had done that his heart was damaged. The cardiologists said he should of had more serious tests done because he died.

thats the 2nd person to say get the female test,

I didn't explicitly say it earlier, but I would also recommend it. Many HRT docs for some reason are very blind to what really happens being on HRT. In my experience, the docs that really know what they're doing will check to make sure all your test isn't aromatizing into estrogen.

SOB I want this now. hahah
So I need to find a cardiologist and give them a offer they cant refuse. And get the recommend. I remember Tim Russert (im a political junky I pay attention to whats going on)

I had a friend have a heart attack. she is a drug free ( really drug free) small time fitness model. But in great shape. she lived but the last person I would guess to have one.

Thanks

You will need the CT prescribed and most likely have a decent cost associated with it depending on your insurance
