Steroid Injection Question

Last night I did my first spin class in years. I got home with an intense pump in my quads and remembered that I hadn't done my injection yet. I was going to pin legs, but with the pump, I wasn't sure if I should.

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to injecting into a pumped muscle? Seems like I read early on that you should pin cold muscles, but not sure why.

I never inject a pumped muscle, not sure why. And great question! Maybe there is an advantage to injecting into a pumped muscle since there is serious blood flow going on maybe it helps ? No idea though honestly

I have never injected in a :pumped muscle fully:, but i have messed up and pinned say shoulders on shoulder day (later on in the day). I say messed up, not sure if its because the fibers are so tight they cant accept the oil, and fight back or what, but it seems harder to put the pin in, harder to inject and much more pain then a normal injection. So nowadays I actually work my pin sites around my workouts so i do not hit them same day.I have heard people say they get not much pain from pinning before they workout that muscle which I guess could be the increased blood flow etc that Presser mentioned however I have never tried that one, or if I did I do not remember the results.

So in my trials pinning muscle same date of working it out = way more pain and no go for me.

Hey guys,
Ive tried both and not really had a problem. Your doing small trama to the muscle belly and fibers when you inject, same as post lifting, muscle break down, increased blood flow, lactic acid. Only concern would be like an infection at the site or some previous trama. Other than that, should be good to go.

I've done both. Honestly after the shower is best for me. On a full pumped muscle I get more blood leakage than if I just take a shower then pin. I see your point on the muscle being contracted and full, so it makes sense to wait till the muscle density is at a minimum.

I actually tried this last night. I couldn't get the plunger to push in. It was like the pin was blocked. As soon as I pulled it out, and pushed, it squirted out fine. So I'm guessing muscle density can effect it?

I like to pin the areas that I am going to be working. Just seems to help get the oil moving, and doesn't get sore. Just my 2 cents.

I actually like to pin the muscle before I work it out. It seems to spread the oil out and the injection site tenderness is less.
