Smile CybrSage's Log - from normal American to Fit and In Shape using PSL

I have been meaning to do this for some time and, frankly, just kept forgetting. I have a log on another forum that I started when I first began my initial cut, but I want it here as well. I will be slowly adding a few week's worth of entries every few days, so as not to blast the thread with too much info at one time, but not to take a huge amount of time putting it here either.

    So to start:

Once upon a time, I was a scrawny teenager. Then I turned into a scrawny twenty-something. Good genetics meant I could eat anything I wanted, and as much as I wanted, and I still could not gain weight. I honestly tried and failed. Then I entered my 30s and the metabolism started slowing down. I started gaining weight and was actually happy about it. But it slowly kept coming and I slowly became less happy. During this entire time, I was an alcoholic as well. A high bottom drunk who only drank at home so as to never risk a DUI, but a drunk nonetheless. I became sober at the end of my 30s.

Sometime during my 30s I also started having my test levels drop, but I did not know it. When I became sober, things were amazing for a few years - the high of actually feeling life was more powerful than the rapidly dropping test levels could crush. But all euphoric things wear off, and so did this one. I found myself listless, lifeless, unable to sleep much, and completely apathetic about everything. I like to say I was so apathetic that I KNEW I was apathetic and frankly did not care.

Eventually, I saw a late night commercial about low test levels and realized it described me perfectly...even the part where the sexily dressed wife obviously comes onto the man wanting a romp in the sack and he shrugs her off. So I went to a doctor.

That began a long, drawn out, painful time where I fired a doctor and an endocrinologist for stupidity. I started on Androgel, which caused such horrific mental side effects I almost lost my wife (I am part of the lucky 1% who get them). I found a new GP (who is amazing) and he referred me to the urologist he personally sees. We then tried Axiron (urologist recommended injections but I was too much of a wuss), which caused me to instantly sweat. After 6 months we realized I was sweating out all the test it was trying to put in me. The doctor recommended injections again and I really had no other choice. Now I laugh at my fear and see it as silly.

The day after my first TRT shot, my leg (where I injected) felt like I was kicked by a mule. I frantically searched the Internet for it and found it was expected and normal for virgin muscles to have that reaction. Strike one for the urologist - he should have known that. While doing research on it, I found that most doctors have no clue about TRT. Since this is MY body, I feel it is MY responsibility to know everything I can about what I am doing to it. Thus began my entry into the AAS world.

I am confident I know FAR more than my urologist about TRT (he did not even request my E2 levels be checked), but I feel he is a keeper. Why? Well, without even blinking an eye, he will add anything to a blood test I ask him to add. He also considers 25% of every test bottle to be wasted, either through the seal failing or by being unable to pull it all out. Thus he over prescribes me test, something I will never complain about. My first blast was done with all prescription test that I stockpiled.

I hooked up with an Internet based personal trainer / nutritionist who started me on my first cut and my path towards being fit and in shape. I do not want to be a full on body builder - I lack the motivation for it (know your weakness), but gaining a great physique and becoming healthy are my goals.

Sorry if my intro was so long, I tend to get wordy. Later on, I will post the beginnings of my journey.

EDIT: Now that he is here as a sponsor, I can say it is none other than 3J himself who I am working with.

I plan on getting into more details as to my side effects, why I fired the first two doctors, etc., later today, when work slows down.

As I said, here are the gory details. I posted them in another thread, but they should go here too.

While taking Androgel, I experienced disphoria, hostility, anxiety, insomnia, and top it all off with a nice layer of paranoia, so I did not believe my wife when she tried to tell me about all the other changes. Not good at all. Luckily, I am very logical minded and I told myself to do an experiment to prove everyone else was crazy. I stopped using it for two weeks. During that time my mind cleared and I knew my wife was right. But to really prove it, I started using it again and kept an eye on myself. I noticed the changes returning, so I stopped immediately and they went away.

I told my endocrinologist about it and she said it was impossible - even after I explained my experiment. I fired her and talked to my General Practitioner, who referred me to his own Urologist. The urologist said that it is true, I cannot have any reaction to testosterone but that I CAN have a reaction to the delivery method.

I am going to slowly add a few weeks here and there to catch the log up to today. It all started on Sept. 8, 2014. I have a set of calipers that I get consistent results with. I cannot say they are entirely accurate, but since I get consistent results I can use them as a way to measure change I body fat. I use the Jackson-Pollock 3 location measurement method. The online calculator (along with pictures of measurement locations) can be found here: https://www.linear-software.com/online.html. By my reckoning, I was at 28% body fat.

All changes are completely natty. Well, I am on TRT, but it puts my test level into the high 500s, so I still consider that to be natty. No drugs at all, not even an ECA stack, were used. Correction to that, I used vitamins, Tylenol, allergy pills, etc., as needed...but that is not what I mean when I say drugs - I mean performance enhancing drugs.

My trainer always says that meeting your goals are 80% diet, 15% exercise, and 5% genetics / gear.

    * Thighs L:23 R:22
    * Calves L:15.5 R:15.25
    * Forearm 3 inches from elbow L:11.5 R: 11.5

Some starting pictures. All pictures are taken cold and unflexed and first thing in the morning prior to eating or drinking anything.

At the time, I was 44 years old. Not too bad for a 44 year old normal everyday American. Most of my friends had 50 or more pounds on them and far more body fat. Good genetics was my only real savior - I did not work out at all.

    September 11th update.

Bolded items are changes. I am running a 500 calorie deficit while doing a reverse pyramid style exercise program. I am eating 2500 calories a day of clean food. To make it easy on myself, my meals are grilled or baked chicken, whole wheat tortillas, and a cup of vegetables. How much of each varies based on the meal and the day. I am carb cycling with the diet. Each day of the work week I work a specific muscle group, 4 different exercises per day (usually). Each exercise has either 4 or 5 sets (depending on the muscle group in question) and each set is done to failure. The sets are: 15 (warm up), 4, 6, 8 and sometimes 20 (depending on the muscle group being worked). As I said, each set is done to failure.

Weight training is new to me, but I used some good YouTube videos to ensure I was doing the forms correctly. I also watched the people at the gym for a bit to see how they were doing things, keeping in mind that some are doing it wrong.

That is all I am going to add for now - I will add more later on today. I do not want to smash the thread. I wish I would have been recording my strength gains this entire time, for it was massive.

Jumping ahead a few weeks, things are still improving. From the start, my friends were poo-pooing my super strict and very healthy diet. They were saying how you still have to live and enjoy life. I just smiled and said I am enjoying watching my fat go away. At this point I was starting to see the changes, but they were still hidden by my clothing.

    November 2
They are actually not so bad! Bolded items are things that changed - lots of changes this week, but they are very small changes again. My waist keeps shrinking, which is a good thing.

I cut the tip of my finger pretty badly early in the week and they used that new surgical glue to fix it up...which meant I could not use my hands for anything strenuous all week. I DID get in one cardio session and leg day, though. I decided to show off my growing muscles to my sister, who has always been one of the few who has supported me in every choice I have made. She was impressed, which made me happy.

I will be back into the full swing of it again this upcoming week. Also, my sister wanted me to take a picture of my arm muscles for her to show to my dad (who lives quite a distance away and she was heading out to visit him. So I did. I was SHOCKED by it!! I was sure it was an optical illusion, but then I looked directly into the mirror with different lighting and it was not. I am getting BIG! You have to remember, I have always been the stereotypical computer geek. Thin and non-muscular, preferred to work my brains and did not bother to work my body. But now...wow! People are starting to notice, too! Here is the pic:

Hmmm...looks like my pictures did not post. I will fix them when I am home. Some more updates, skipping ahead a bit again.

I hit it hard this week and got in all four cardio sessions. I started getting sick (wife got sick and then gave it to me...married couples should share everything, right?) on Thursday night, but still did my cardio on Friday. My weight went up, which I did not expect. However, I have to say that my muscles feel more dense, for lack of a better term. They feel fuller, harder. I am suspecting that I am losing fat still, but gaining more muscle so my fat loss weight is offset by my muscle gain. Since I have never been a muscular man, this would not surprise me. Dunno, though since my muscles are not actually getting bigger. They LOOK bigger to me, but the tape measure says they are not.

EDIT: I have to correct that last statement. I looked back at my initial post and my biceps (just as an example) are more than an inch bigger. Remove the fat and add that much muscle and it makes sense that they look bigger - they actually ARE bigger.

I also ordered a new tape measure, one that auto tightens. That way I will have the same tightness level each measurement to make sure they are more accurate.

I was standing next to the bed yesterday, shirt off, belt undone and jeans unbuttoned. I twisted slightly to the right to say something to my wife and she gasped. She said "My God, you look like some of the models on my TV show."

That, my friends, is some severe progress verification. That is what makes this journey worth it.

Since I am visiting my daughter this week (she is graduating from college - yay!!), I was put on a Keto diet. I asked how I would go about carb cycling while away and he basically said it is simply too hard, so do Keto. I started it yesterday (will do an entire week of it even though I do not leave until tomorrow) and I must say, it is nice to be able to eat something different for a change! No carbs is hard, but I am used to that since there is a no carb day (and a paltry 50 carb day) on the carb cycling program anyway.

I looked up lactose free keto recipies and found some VERY good ones! Lots of meat, eggs, and some butter.

The Keto week was both easier and harder than I thought it would be. After months of carb cyclng, keto was a welcome change...but by day 3 it was hard to do. The only day I actually failed, though, was when we exchanged Christmas presents with my daughter. She gave me a container of chocolate chip cookie dough and said she wanted to make me freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. They are my ultimate favorite cookie. This is also the very first time she ever baked for me. The cookies were not all that good, but I ate a lot of them anyway. Heck, they could have tasted horrific and I would have eaten a ton of them. Other than that, I did well.

There was nowhere to work out for most of the week - the hotel did not have any exercise equipment! Oversight on my part, but I did do pushups and situps. Anyway, onto my stats. I lost a LOT of weight - 7 pounds in one week! I think the Keto was a big shock to my body. I weighed myself twice just to be sure.

I fixed the arm pictures, above, to show progress. Quickly catching up now, skipping ahead a little.

    01-01-15

Well crap...way to ruin leg day. I actually LIKE leg day - it is the hardest day for me but it is also the one that shows the greatest changes. I have always had chicken legs no matter how hard I tried, but it turns out I was working out wrong and doing what my trainer says to do has given me nice looking legs for the first time in my life. But now I am singing the old song from Hee-Haw:

"Gloom, despair, and agony on me
    Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me"

I was pinning my test-cyp on Wed evening, using a 1/2" 29g needle into the thigh muscle, when out of nowhere I suddenly sneezed violently. I would have let go of the syringe had I any prior notice...but I did not. I looked down and the needle was bent 90 degrees. I had just finished injecting, so that is good, but I did a number on my thigh muscle. I knew it would be sore, but this morning I woke up with a HUGE lump on my thigh. It is now mostly down due to plenty of ibuprofen and an ice pack, but still slightly sore. So this means I must reverse arm and leg day.

EDIT: It is still painfully sore when I walk, so I think I will be skipping leg day this week. Of all the days I like this one the most! I also cannot do cardio now.

As I previously wrote, I hurt my leg with my needle. This put a damper on my exercising, but at least I had already completed chest and back day (and was able to get in shoulder and arm day later that week), as well as got in one cardio session. On the advice of some forum members (I made a thread on how to do cardio in my condition), I tried the elliptical machine and was able to do two more cardio sessions (I did 30 mins each for them). Afterwards, my leg hurt a lot, but I just worked through the pain. As you can see below, my left leg is an entire inch larger than my right.

The bitter cold and harsh winds dented my determination to hit the gym - so I did not hit it all 5 days as I should have. I did get arm and shoulder days in since I own dumbells. Due to having a treadmill in the house, I did get all 4 cardios in as well. In this lengthy cut, I have dropped from around 27-28% body fat to about around 16% body fat. All that in only 4 months! My trainer said I will soon start bulking...not sure how long from now soon is, but I am looking forward to it.

I realized I had not been adding in the weight of the bar when I record my weight pushed! I found out the bar in the free weight section weighs 45 pounds and the bar in the smith machine weighs 20 pounds, so I have been pushing that much more weight that I thought I was - I now feel less like a weakling. Also, be very careful about the types of flavored K-Cup coffee you use. I worked very hard on my cardio this week and expected to lose more weight than I did, so I looked at all the new foods and drinks I recently started to imbibe. One of the K-Cups was actually 60 calories a cup! This is in contrast to the 5 calories of all the other ones. Just wanted to toss that out there, you can accidently sabotage yourself with something you thought was not an issue.

My sister-in law left two days ago after a week's visit. The day before she left, I had come home from the gym and had tossed my shirt into the wash and started it filling while making my rice for the post work out meal. I was in the kitchen and she came, looked at me, and said "by God man, put a shirt on - you are making me think thoughts about my sister's husband I should not think!" and walked out. Validation of positive improvement comes in many forms.

My wife, however, did not look at it in the same positive light when I told her about it later. Women, who can understand them? Before you all say I am an idiot for telling her, she knows I have no desire for her sister. They are polar opposites in every way - looks (wife is blonde, her sister has black hair, etc), personality, dress style, etc. If you are attracted to one sister you will not be attracted to the other.

I did five cardio sessions this week and got in all major muscle group days except arm day - my wrist was hurting slightly and I did not want to make it worse. It hurts from time to time due to a bad car accident I was in when I was 17, fractured my left wrist on the steering wheel (and smashed the windshield with my head, back then seatbelts were not required when driving) - decades later I am reminded of it occasionally. But other than that, I was pretty much on point with everything.

My weight went up slightly, but my waist and stomach went down, so I am still happy. I am going to start a bulk very soon - 3J is creating the diet for it. Looking forward to a change in lifestyle. I am still seeing body changes with this cut, though slowly now, but I am ready for a change - five months of cutting is a pretty long time, even though I surely needed it.

CybrSage's Log - from normal American to Fit and In Shape-2-22-15-small.jpg

It has been a while since I checked my bodyfat using my calipers. I just did so using the Jackson-Pollock 3 Caliper Method and it says I am 13.79% body fat. The pinches and measurements are taken on the chest (13mm), the abdomen (15mm) and the thigh (12mm). While I cannot say I am perfect using the calipers, my measurements are all repeatable within 1mm of each reading, so if nothing else, they are consistent and good enough to compare to previous readings. I am quite happy - and I can SEE the reduction in body fat...I am now having to get more choosy in where I inject my HCG SubQ.

I use this site to do the calculations:

I remember following your progress in real-time on another forum. You made some serious changes. You transformed into the guy in the first pictures, to a fitness and nutrition guru. Well done.

Quickly catching up, so a few more posts.

    3/1/15

This week was a partial bulk week, partial cut. My numbers have not really moved, which is not a surprise. I am going to keep killing it to make the 2.5ml injections worth it! I should not be surprised by the amount, but I still am every time I see it in the syringe. My thigh easily takes it all (almost no pain), most likely due to how thin Deca is compared to Test-Cyp. Mix the two and the injection is not too terribly hard to push. I am shifting from 27g to 25g until the bulk is over, I think I am doing too much damage with the thin tip trying to push for so long of a time. This is going to eat up all my Test-Cyp reserves, but I suppose this is why I have it. I will slowly regain more reserves in time since my doctor believes in overprescribing test. He counts 1/4 of the bottle as waste - either through being unable to pull it out (I suck out every drop I can, personally) or that the stopper will fail (no doubt on this since he recommends pulling with 18g needles!). He also refills the scrips without a second thought. I SHOULD use one bottle ever 7 weeks (I think), but I get a new one monthly since I can. My doc is not the best, but he never says no when I ask for additions to my blood test (additions I learned to ask for here, I will add) and keeps me well stocked in test-cyp. I could do a LOT worse.

    Anyway, my stats:

    *Weight: 167
    *Neck: 15.75
    *Chest: 39.75
    *Stomach: 33
    *Waist Line: 33.5
    *Biceps: L: 12.25 R: 12.25
    *Thighs: L: 22.5 R: 22.5
    *Calves: L: 14.75 R: 14.75
    *Forearms: L: 11.25 R: 11.25

I should probably start logging my weights pushed, too...not sure if anyone cares to read them though.

Blood work at the end of the cut and the start of the bulk:

I realized I did not post my stats this week. I was surprised that not much changed, so I started logging everything I do - and I realized I was inadvertently skipping a meal EVERY DAY! I just am having trouble eating so much food! I am still full from the last meal, so I do not even think about the next. I am going to start setting a timer on my watch for every 3 hours...

    Onto the stats:

    *Weight: 167
    *Neck: 15.75
    *Chest: 39.75
    *Stomach: 35
    *Waist Line: 33.25
    *Biceps: L: 12.25 R: 12.25
    *Thighs: L: 22.5 R: 22.5
    *Calves: L: 14.5 R: 14.5
    *Forearms: L: 11.25 R: 11.25

I am doing the 3J reverse pyramid workout plan. This means I am doing 4 or 5 sets (depending on the muscle group in use), with each set being done to failure. I will just start logging when I increase the weight, which I did on everything just last week - by 5 or 10 pounds, depending on what the next weight set it. I will give a spattering of weights I push, and use the same ones as a reference. Currently, I am pushing (all numbers are in pounds and include the weight of the bar - heh):

    Flat Bench Press (15, 4, 6, 8, 20): 130, 180, 140, 120, 90
Dead Lifts (15, 4, 6, 8): 115, 185, 155, 145 - I want to ensure my form is perfect so I do not injure my back so my increases are slower here
    Side Lateral Raises (15, 4, 8, 8, 20): 25, 35, 30, 25, 20
    Squats (15, 4, 6, 8): 110, 180, 170, 160

Does the feeling that someone is taking a garden hand tiller to my muscles after I am done working out ever stop? My goodness I hurt after working out, especially my legs. I also figured today was a good day to type in my current numbers, to compare them to the ones from the 9th. I also noticed I did not include any arm exercises so I am adding one type. Almost everything increased by either 10 or 20 pounds except for the Side Lateral Raises, which I greatly improved my form instead (slower rise and fall). The dumbbell bicep curls will increase slowly, if at all, for a while as I planning on improving my form instead of adding more weight.

    Flat Bench Press (15, 4, 6, 8, 20): 130, 190, 150, 130, 90
    Dead Lifts (15, 4, 6, 8): 120, 190, 160, 150
    Side Lateral Raises (15, 4, 8, 8, 20): 25, 35, 30, 25, 20
    Squats (15, 4, 6, 8): 130, 220, 200, 190
    Dumbbell Bicep Curls (15, 4, 6, 8): 30, 45, 40, 35

As a recap, I am taking 600mg of test-cyp, 400mg of deca, and 500IU of HCG per week, divided into two 3.5day apart shots. Prior to the bulk my E2 level was 45 on the non-sensitive test with the top of the range being 42.6 and no AI being used. Since then, I have been using 0.25 of Letro every 3.5 days.

New bloodwork is in! My ALT and AST are both high, but barely so. Time to add some TUDCA along with the NAC I have been taking (1200mg twice a day - will up to 1800mg twice a day). Taking Letro at 0-.25mg E3D put my E2 level in a nice spot. I have now shifted to using Forma Stanzol, so we will see what happens with that (2 pumps a day). Test level is >1500. I might look into the other blood test group to see what the level really is.

My Glucose level is back over 100. I figured out why - apparently I have a genetic disposition towards Type 2 Diabetes. I talked to my dad who told me EVERYONE (other than him) on his side of the family got Type 2 Diabetes by 45 years old regardless of diet and lifestyle. Even the day laborers got it, eating the standard meat and potatoes diet. I had started taking glucosamine for my joints - and research showed me it converts directly into glucose in the body. By the time I figured it out, my fasting glucose level was 110, when it is usually in the 80s. It went from the mid 80s to 110 in a single month! A month after stopping the glucosamine, it returned to 86, while changing nothing else.

Moving along nicely, imo. Slow gains, but gains nonetheless.

My best friend has decided to join me in the gym. He is very out of shape, has type 2 diabetes, and is quickly approaching type 1 levels. He is the type of person who understand the difference between not being able to do one more rep due to not wanting to push harder (most people fall into this category without even knowing it) and not being able to do one more rep because the real limit has been reached. He learned it in boot camp in the Army. He is currently sitting at around 45% body fat - guessed at via pictures.

Anyway, he is doing the same routine I am doing, but adding in some light cardio. His numbers are much lower than mine, but that is neither here nor there. What matters is that he has decided to change his lifestyle. He knows diet is the key (I have been harping that to everyone who asks me how I changed so much so quickly) and is changing that as well...slowly but surely.

The big thing I found out is having him there is forcing me to work harder! That last set of 20 is something I just found out I have been skimping on. Not sure how it happened or why, but it did. When I told him the purpose of it and had him do it, I realized I had all but stopped doing it myself! Now I have no choice but to do them. I fessed up on it to him too (we are best friends, after all) and he smacked me in the head and told me about all the muscle I could have put pissed away. Gotta love friends like that.

At one point in his life, many decades ago, he was a big bruiser kind of guy. The stereotypical army grunt type of guy. Eventually he will be that way again, just going to take time. His joints are failing slowly due to his weight, etc. But the hardest and most important step is to start - and he has.

I am just happy to see that the changes in my have caused others to want to make changes in themselves instead of causing jealousy. It is a good feeling. Today is leg day - his first leg day - going to be fun. Not sure if he can do squats yet. He is in touch with his own body, so if something starts to cause pain in anywhere but the muscle, he is going to stop. EDIT: Turns out he cannot - his knees simply cannot take it.

My best friend is keeping me honest and working hard, which is a great thing. He literally threw a box of tissues at me the other day and mentioned something about "mamby pamby land".

Hurt my wrist, not too badly I think, but going to the doctor to be sure. I am wearing a compression garment to great effect until then. - EDIT: Turns out I badly bruised both tendons on my wrist that control the thumb. 4 to 6 months of recovery. The VERY hot doctor who treated me said I can continue to work out as long as I stop if it starts to hurt my thumb or wrist.

Newest blood test results. WBC, Neutrophils, Lymphs, and Monocytes are all high due to a drug I am taking because I bruised both tendons connecting my thumb to my wrist (as well as also being caused by the damage itself). BUN/Creatine Ratio is high due to a high protein diet. Test is high due to a bulking cycle using AAS. LH, FSH are low and always will be due to being on TRT. The problem is the next line, E2 level. Apparently, Forma Stanzol is not keeping up with the high test and deca doses I am taking, E2 is 248! I am aborting it and shifting to Letro to get it back under control. Going to take 0.5mg twice a week for a week, then back to 0.25mg twice a week for a week, and then get another blood test done to see where I stand. I had been testing the new Forma Stanzol V3 while bulking, but it simply is not up to the task.

For a normal TRT dose, it might be a good fit, but definitely not on a high test creating cycle.

I check for new breast masses every few days to try and catch any gyno when it is just forming, but mostly because I think I am hot and I want to touch my own chest (haha - just kidding). Anyway, today I was worried and shocked to find my chest is VERY sore and a bit tender! I started thinking the worse, went to look up the info on gyno again (great write up about it HERE), and then stopped myself and laughed.

    Yesterday was chest day.

Yeah, the E2 level of 248 is making me paranoid...just had to out myself there.

Decided to give an update on the different exercises I selected from to show some progress:

    Entry from 3/20/15
    Flat Bench Press (15, 4, 6, 8, 20): 130, 190, 150, 130, 90
    Dead Lifts (15, 4, 6, 8): 120, 190, 160, 150
    Side Lateral Raises (15, 4, 8, 8, 20): 25, 35, 30, 25, 20
    Squats (15, 4, 6, 8): 130, 220, 200, 190
    Dumbbell Bicep Curls (15, 4, 6, 8): 30, 45, 40, 35

Current, 4/16/15, about a month later
    Flat Bench Press (15, 4, 6, 8, 20): 150, 220, 180, 170, 90
    Dead Lifts (15, 4, 6, 8): 140, 220, 190, 180
    Side Lateral Raises (15, 4, 8, 8, 20): 30, 45, 35, 30, 20
    Squats (15, 4, 6, 8): 160, 240, 220, 210
    Dumbbell Bicep Curls (15, 4, 6, 8): 30, 45, 40, 35

They all went up, considerably in my opinion, except the curls. I expected the curls to not go up. I actually reduced the weight and started doing them properly, then slowly increased the weight back up to where I was a month ago. Now I am doing them properly instead of "swinging them all around" as it would have appeared. They are MUCH harder when done properly, so I am hopeful to see good gains from them.

Even if my muscles are not getting larger, which would be sad, they are getting STRONGER. Of that there is no doubt - the weights simply cannot lie.

Was a good week, all in all. Was attacked by a couple of Reece's' Peanut Butter Cups. Do not fear for me, I was able to defend myself. It was a bestial fight, one involving teeth and ripping the PBCs to shreds...

Other than that, the week went well. I worked out hard again. My new workout buddy is helping keep me honest with myself and is pushing me harder than I pushed myself. In turn, I am doing the same for him. He just called me and complained that I was forcing him to buy a new belt.

No results yet from the blood work, though I did not expect it yet. Labcorp would often get me the results the next day, sometimes the SAME day. Quest is slow as fuck.

New results, just in. I wanted to see my max Test level, a little disappointed at the results. My ALT and AST are high, so I need to up my NAC and TUDCA. My E2 has dropped dramatically, but is still high. I will get more blood work done in a few weeks.

I had myself genetically tested for Male Pattern Baldness, here are the results:

    Results
rs1160312 AG Less likely to go bald
rs2180439 CT Less likely to go bald

The best is to have GG and CC, but I am happy with the results. This explains why, at age 46, I barely have any hair loss. I have a little thinning at the crown of my head, but nothing too bad. I have lots of hair still. GO ME!!!

Still banging on the weights. My weight numbers keep slowly rising, though my body is not getting bigger. I am LOOKING great and feeling great (except when I am on my way home from the gym - then I feel old, heh). I did catch a fit, young woman watching me in the mirror as I did squats. I pretended not to notice so she would not stop. First time for me, great feeling. I think she was younger than my daughter...but my daughter is 27 so that leaves a bit of space there in the fully legal age range.

I just checked - I am on week eight of my twelve week bulk cycle. Only four short weeks left to it! WOW, where does the time go? While I wanted to gain a bit more mass than I did (and I still have an entire month to do it), I certainly cannot complain about what I have accomplished so far under the guidance of a personal trainer. My strength just keeps increasing week after week - I have started adding weight even if I do not think I am ready just to see if I actually am - and usually surprise myself with it! Though sometimes I do have to go "uh, no, not yet". Still, I look great, feel great, and am happy so far.

I am starting to wish I learned about this world of ours (funny to include myself in it) sooner.

    - - - Updated - - -

I have not updated the weights I am pushing for a bit, time to do that:

    5/7/15
    Flat Bench Press (15, 4, 6, 8, 20): 160, 220, 180, 170, 90
    Dead Lifts (15, 4, 6, 8): 140, 220, 195, 190
    Side Lateral Raises (15, 4, 8, 8, 20): 30, 45, 35, 30, 20
    Squats (15, 4, 6, 8): 160, 250, 220, 210
    Dumbbell Bicep Curls (15, 4, 6, 8): 35, 45, 40, 35

Not really too much change over the last 3 weeks. I have been concentrating more on form, though.

    05-10-15

None of my readings changed at all except my weight went up one pound. I feel stronger, and AM stronger (my weight numbers keep going up). I suspect I have simply reached the limit of what can be accomplished on this cycle. Two weeks left of it, I think. I am quite happy with the results and everything I learned about myself in the process. I get compliments from people all the time now about how great I look, and I know they are right and not just being nice.

    Anyway, onto the stats:

I started taking Kung Fu and I almost died in my first Kung Fu class...the first 25 minutes were called "line drills". I renamed them "kill the 46 year old man drills". I realized that youth really does matter a LOT! LOL. The instructor is 26 and a friend of mine, so he is going to start giving me stretching lessons to help me become more flexible.

My numbers barely changed, although my strength continues to increase at the gym. I keep impressing myself with how often my weight keeps going up - almost weekly. I most likely have hit either a genetic limitation on physical size or my body is simply at a saturation point for this cycle (I suspect this is the case). I believe I have only one week left on the bulk, then I drop back to TRT dosing and move forward from there. I am very happy with the changes to my body - especially when I flex. Cold, unflexed is not very impressive (though FAR more impressive than a scant 8 months ago!!!!), but when I flex, I even impress myself. I only wish my arms got a little bigger, but they do look impressive when flexed, at least to me. I have also received a ton of compliments on my back from many people.

I have started using TNE as a pre-workout on leg and arm day, to give me a little extra umph to my work out. I LOVE it! I have tried 50mg and 100mg. The 100mg gave me too much soreness at the injection site the next day for my liking. I have settled at 60mg as my sweet spot. I CAN say that ALL my weight pushed numbers are rising fast. I am surprising myself with it. Today, a 25 year old at the gym called me a beast when he saw me doing my cable rope tricep pull down super-set. I made a muscle and said "thanks!" He honestly looked impressed...then he asked my age. Told him I was 46 (which is true) and he was flabbergasted. Grabbed his girlfriend and told her, who was also shocked. He told me he can only hope he is in as good a shape as I am in when he gets to my age. He also asked me what my leg workout was, because he said my legs looked great and he could not get his to grow.

That has never happened before. I am going to have to come to accept that I am no longer the scrawny little white guy anymore. Oh, how will I ever survive it!?!

Here are my stats, all changes are within the margin of error, imo, except maybe the added half inch around the stomach:

    *Weight: 187
    *Neck: 16.5

Update - ended the bulk, sad to see it end, if only because that means another cut is around the corner. More fun to eat lots of food and do no cardio...but the cut is what will make me reach my goals of seeing my abs...so cutting it is. A few weeks of soaking to convince the body this is the new norm, then the cut.

I also wanted to see how much I could squat, so I decided to do a weight at 4 reps, then increase it, do 4 more reps, increase it, on and on until I could not do 4 reps any more. I started at 280, went to 320, then to 380, then to 400, then to 420, and could only two 2 reps at 440. I was quite proud of myself...and the bar looked VERY manly with all those 45lb plates on it!

    Here are my stats:

    *Weight: 189
    *Neck: 16.5
    *Chest: 41
    *Stomach: 35
    *Waist Line: 35
    *Biceps: L: 13 R: 13
    *Thighs: L: 24 R: 24
    *Calves: L: 15 R: 15
    *Forearms: L: 12 R: 12

I greatly increased my squat numbers this week. Because of my sets of 4 I wrote about earlier, my workout brother told me I had no choice but to up my numbers. Also, the hot, blonde, young, fit woman watching me in the mirror (and smiling a lot as I completed my reps) was a good inspiration to agree with him...so I did, and was successful. I have determined that women like her are the Devil...

The squats were harder than I wanted to do, but that is the point, right? So here are my new Squat numbers:

    15@160, 4 @ 320, 6 @ 270, 8 @ 230.

Also, I was looking at my legs in the mirror after showing and flexed and was like "DAMN BOY, YOU HAVE SOME HUGE LEGS ON YOU!!" I was always chicken legged...and now I am not! I did the same flex for my wife and she went wide eyed. She said my legs have just exploded in size in the last week and they look huge. NICE!!

Not much to say about this week other than I am now trying to get used to a reducing test level due to the bulk being over. My legs have now grown for 2 weeks in a row - yay!!! Now to get my arms to do the same thing.

    Here are my stats:

    *Weight: 190
    *Neck: 16.5
    *Chest: 41
    *Stomach: 35.5
    *Waist Line: 35.25

Nothing much to report this week. Just same ol, same ol, though my weight numbers are still slowly rising. Still in the maintenance phase, week two of it with two weeks to go after this one. Then I start another cut. While I dread doing a cut, I know it will make me look amazing! I also recently realized I weigh just about the same I did when I started, only instead of being 28% body fat, I am now around 15% body fat. HUGE difference in my appearance! I am almost obese again, according to the fed gov, though.

Your BMI is 28.4 You are Overweight (25 to 29.9)
A normal adult weight for this height is between 125.3-169.3 lbs

I guess that settles it, I am not a normal adult.

Blood work results are in. Sure enough, I have been accidently doubling my TRT dose. After the bulking dose amount, it seemed small, but I was doing calculations the other day and realized I was pinning 0.8ml instead of 0.4ml of 200mg/ml test-cyp. Sure enough, my blood work shows it.

It is allergy season and my Eos and White Blood Cells show this. I need to start taking my liver supps again, my ALT and AST are a little high. Now that I am also taking Proviron, I see I no longer need to take my AI at all, since a double dose of test has me at 12.6. Good to know.

Saturday I helped with the roof again, carrying up the last 2800 pounds of shingles, in 90 pound bags, in about 1 hour. I have to say, my strength has greatly improved over the several months! I would carry 6 bags (one at a time) up the ladder, take a 5 minute break and rehydrate, then continue. I told them I could only help for an hour or so. When I left, my brother in law (whose roof it is) thanked me for carrying some bags up and asked how many there were left to carry...after seeing none he was quite shocked. Felt good. I told him I was either going to the gym or moving bags to the roof, so I might as well help and move bags.

If anyone doubts the gains that can be made while under the tutelage of a personal trainer / nutrionist, doubt no more. I was a fat weakling only a few months ago...now I can carry heavy shingle bags without dying!

    Here are my stats:

My last two weeks have been identical to the last entry, with the exception that my weight went up to 198. Sorry for the lame update! I am still in a soaking pattern for another week, then I start my cut. I think the holding pattern is worse than an actual cut!

I am now all caught up. My weigh ins and measurements are taking Sunday morning - as well as pictures but I will spare you all the pics of me in my underwear! lol

    07-12-15

I had a lot of motivational problems this week, so getting to the gym was a challenge for me. I skipped leg day and arm day on their normal days (Thurs and Fri) but made up leg day yesterday. I am going to make up arm day today. I want to get them in since I want them to either grow or at least maintain. I have not been increasing my weights recently except for when they are just too easy to do that I know I am not benefitting from the workout. I am doing this to make sure my connective tissues have time to catch up with my muscles. I just saw an old friend I have not seen in over a year and his jaw dropped open. He said I now look like a bruiser, like someone who can pick you up and just break your back over his knee. He had known me for decades and, until recently, I have always been the thin, scrawny person with no muscle to speak of. I see myself all the time, so my view is not the same as his and not such a sudden shock. Nice to hear it! But since I have apparently gained a lot of muscle in a short amount of time, I do not want my connective tissues to lag behind and potentially give me injuries later on.

Onward to the stats - not much has changed. An extra pound and an extra 0.25in around the stomach. Both measurements are within the margin of error or random fluctuations - so basically I have stayed the same. Right now, that is a good thing. One more week of maintenance and then I start the cut.

    Onwards to the stats:

    *Weight: 199
    *Neck: 16.5

My first full week of the cut - I simply forgot how HUNGRY I can get! Several months of bulking spoiled me! LOL!

Anyway, here are my current stats...I lost a lot of weight, but it is mostly water weight. Looking to get around 10% body fat so I can see my abs. I will then take a picture in case I cannot keep them.

LOL! I will PM you the pics, Presser.

Sorry for the lack of updates - I went to GenCon last week and managed to win a prize - a pretty bad sickness! Go Me!! For the last week I have barely been able to get out of bed. I had a negative feedback loop, slowly killing me off. Something caused my throat to become raw. This caused me to have a dry cough, which caused me to have post nasal drip. The post nasal drip irritated the throat, which increased my dry coughs, which increased the post nasal drip, which...you get the idea. It was worse at night due to lying on my back, so I never got more than 40 minutes of sleep at one shot. Finally got to the doctor who gave me flonaise and cough syrup with codeine. I am slowly getting better now. My doctor said that I should probably take flonaise forever. I have always had terrible sinus problems from my earliest memories. I have had it my entire life, so I never think about it - it is normal for me. My doctor said that flonaise should fix it due to what she sees is wrong. I wonder what life will be like, being able to breath through my nose...

Even with all that, I managed to drop to 191 pounds and lost some size around the waist and stomach. I consider that a win! Here are my current stats:

    *Weight: 191
    *Neck: 16.75
    *Chest: 41
    *Stomach: 36
    *Waist Line: 35.5

I have still been sick, but I think I am finally almost over it. I could not do more than 3 hours of simply walking around and interacting with things without needing a 30 minute rest...sucked big time. I gained 1 pound, but all my other stats stayed the same. My throat is just a week bit raw near the top yet, not bad considering the entire thing felt like fire every time I coughed before. I will be hitting the gym again starting today...so I hope to have some very good updates at the end of the week!

Thanks for the motivation! I might have to PM ya sometime, both my PCP and urologist are complete 'tards. Test is like 1 point above the low range and they are like "it's still normal" --- bullshit IMHO.

    Excellent blog/journal.

Thanks! I would fire them and get a new urologist. Then take the test later in the day (not first thing in the morning) when your T level is not at its peak. If you are borderline first thing AM, that should ensure you are under.

Thanks I think I might have too.....

They don't / won't even order the right labs. I only got the urologist to order the prolactin (because he's probably looking for the old "high prolactin, low test" tumor from med school)

Won't derail your thread with my stuff, if okay maybe I can hit you up like I mentioned/PM.

So the sickness has drug on long enough, and I am feeling truly better - though I get tired earlier in the night than I used to get. I am going to try working out in the morning again to see if that helps. I am down to 190 pounds with all my other measurements very close to where they were - good for being sick I feel.

Time to bust ass and make this cut turn me into a man with abs you can actually SEE!!!

I went to the gym yesterday, first time in three weeks (1 weeks of GenCon and 2 weeks of being horribly sick). I had to force myself to go, but once there I was VERY happy I showed up. My weight pushed was down, but I expected that. I worked hard, sweated, went to failure, and felt good about myself. Well, until I went to take my shirt off when I got home and found I was unable to do it! LOL

Today I hit my back - not in a bad way like I hurt it, but in a good way at the gym. I forgot how sore I get when I push hard. I have reduced my weights until I am back into the swing of things and I am STILL sore! It is a good sore, one I am actually happy about. Go Me!!!

OK, sorry for the lack of updates - it has taken me FOUR WEEKS to feel better physically!!! I am still not getting any quality sleep (2 hours sleep, 1 hour awake, rinse and repeat), but I have just started taking some melatonin and hope it helps. I also just finished fully weaning off of Wellbutrin XL. Apparently, as an antidepressant, it includes stimulants. Not so bad of an idea, until you realize the XL stands for Extended Life - it slowly releases over a 24 hour period. So there I am, trying to sleep, when I am hit with a stimulant. UGH!

So, at the current moment my stats are all over the place. I am back up to 194 pounds. My personal trainer / nutritionist put me on a keto diet for the next two weeks to kickstart my body back into weight loss mode. I am happy to do anything needed to make that a reality. Two weeks without carbs will not be fun, but compared to the sickness I just got over it will be a walk in the park!

Stay tuned for more updates, I promise them. Eventually I will post before and after pics of my year long journey.

Yesterday I got - no lie - 15 hours of sleep. I woke up twice to pee (and ate once). My wife was not even upset I killed off a Friday night by sleeping it away, that is how worried she has been for me lately. I am going to hit the gym today! I feel alive and refreshed! Never again will I take normal for granted!

I did not hit the gym at all this week, was too tired and run down. However, I got normal sleep yesterday (and actually felt good enough for sex - yay!). I am going to hit the gym tonight for leg day even though it should be a rest day. I have had way too many rest days recently.

I lost 2 pounds! My measurements show my stomach is a bit smaller as well - and it feels smaller, if that makes any sense. I am never going to take feeling normal for granted again. I have always said that if something is not bad that means it is good, and now I have a great frame of reference for it.

I feel so much happier now that I am not on the Welbutrin - which should not be the case. Still have bad periods, especially at night, but that is just part of being human. One cannot have a good period without having a bad period upon which to gauge the good against.

I went back and looked at old (2 year ago) pics of myself to remind myself of where I used to be. I have come so far!

It is super tough to get motivated again to restart...dunno why, I enjoyed going to the gym.
My workout partner almost cut his one finger off - so he is not allowed to work out for some time...so I snagged another workout partner, but he has already bailed on my two out of two times. Sigh...

Still waking up in the middle of the night, so I had a GREAT idea! When I wake up, I cannot get back to sleep for at least an hour. I am now going to go to the gym and work out when I wake up in the middle of the night. My gym is 24 hour and is literally a 5 minute drive away (if I hit the light, otherwise it is a 4 minute drive). I can go, work out, come home, shower, and then sleep again. Last night was my first test of it - and therefor I slept through the night without waking up. Not sure if I am happy or frustrated about that.

Just got back from the gym...clothes are in the washer and going to take a shower soon. Just finished the after workout meal. I know, a bit late at night, or rather early in the morning, but I was wide awake and rather than try to sleep and fail, I felt it better to force myself out of the rut and hit the gym. I am so fricken sore (did chest day) but happy I did it. I am hopeful this will help me sleep tonight, after I shower to return to being human again.

I hope this is the end of my failure and the beginning of my success.

I kicked my own ass for not working out harder the previous weeks. At first it was understandable due to just how sick I was, but then you are right, I fell into a rut and found being sick an easy excuse to use...aka, too tired to work out. Well fuck that noise, even a bad work out is better than no work out. I managed to get in three workouts this week - Chest, shoulders, and legs. Next week (or rather, this upcoming week) I will get in all five.

My weight did go down, but by a paltry one pound, which can easily just be a normal fluctuation anyone can have. That bothers me, but it is my own dumb fault. I am going to add two or three cardio sessions (20 mins at about 135bpm) starting next week. Anyway, I feel freed from whatever was keeping me from making it to the gym....finally. Thanks for pushing me a bit there, I needed it.

    Onto my stats:

    *Weight: 191
    *Neck: 16.25
    *Chest: 40.5
    *Stomach: 35.5
    *Waist Line: 35.25

I hit the gym hard 4 days this week (missed leg day this week) and did 2 days of cardio. This upcoming week will be all 5 days and 3 days of cardio.

I have not gone to the doctor yet about my lower back pain, but I did figure out why it hurts on arm day, Short version is I am an idiot... I did a ton of reading and research and found I was simply using too heavy of weights. I have been lamenting that, even though I use heavy weights, my arms simply are not growing. One of the things I read was to reduce the weight and REALLY concentrate on the moves and make them VERY slow. I cut my weights all but in half and made sure I concentrated hard on the muscles involved and moved very slowly. Damn, it was super hard! I also noticed my lower back did not hurt afterwards. Intrigued, I stood sideways next to the mirror and grabbed my previous 4 rep weight and watched myself curl it. Sure enough, I was lifting with my back...in other words, I was backing backwards to help my arm get past the harder points and get to the easier ones.

Now to solve the back issue when I walk. I am going to visit a specialty shoe store near where I live and have them look at my gait and see if that is the problem. It most likely is.

I really expected my weight loss to be higher than it was...since I was doing honest work at the gym, but I only lost 1 pound. Still, with fluctuations, I am not going to sweat it (rather sweat at the gym! Bah-dah-dum, bing!! Yes, I will not quit my day job) until next week is no or very little drop as well. One thing I DID notice is that my new vegetable mix actually contains some grains in it...something I did not notice before. While I doubt it is much, it is carbs and therefor will mess up my macros. I am going to be grabbing some fresh asparagus to eat with my meals this week - I love that stuff. Flash steam them in the microwave in a special container I have that was made for just that purpose. I also lost just a little around the next but grew just a little in the chest. The rest remained static.

One thing I CAN say is that I no longer feel sick or broken like I did the previous weeks. That was pure hell! I am back, really back this time. Nothing is going to stop me now from finishing this cut and looking amazing!

    Onto the stats.
