Default Looking for assistance with correcting cholesterol while on cycle

    Hey all,

It seems my LDL/HDL profile is in the shitter!
Got my cholesterol checked by my GP and the
    LDL/HDL numbers are ugly:

    Cholesterol: 211
    HDL: 25
    LDL: 163
    Triglycerides: 116

Now my Doc wants me to go on Lipitor. Don't like the look of those sides!

I've been running gear for the past 3 years. 8-12 weeks on, 4-6 off.
    I'm 56 years old, 6'6", 280 lbs.

    Currently running:

    Tren 80 eod
    Mast 100 eod
    Sust 100 eod

Looking for suggestions on raising HDL, lowering LDL while on my cycle.
I just started this run 3 weeks ago. Don't want to back off if I can avoid it.

    I appreciate any advice!

    Thanks

    Thanks Gearheaded!

I ordered some RYR pills. I have also read they help. I guess they need a fat for absorption so I will take with my Omega3s.
I'll post results in a month or 2.

My total # is much lower total in range for me.
    My HDL range between 20-30.
My Dr says mine are great!!

HDL have really no proof as being good for u!!
They are a hallmark of metabolic syndrome and then with that it is dangerous!!!

This is good practice I use everyday!!
    3000 mg fish oil
    1000mg to 2000mg Garlic
    100-200mg COq10
    Vit b6 100mg
    Vit b complex
Triple strength joint supplement (the sulfer inside has lots of detox benifits)
    Milk thistle 200-400mg
    NAC 600-1200mg a day
    Think that covers it!!!
Be sure u getting all minerals thru diet!!

Red yeast rice lowers LDL but needs coq10
With it!! But this should be used with caution!!!

    I been running
    Tren a 100mg everyday
    Mast prop 150mg everyday
Test prop 100 now 50 everyday
    Primo e 75mg everyday

    Proviron 100mg everyday
    Nolva 10mg everyday

    Ai's mostly adex .5 mg @2×wk
But aromasin for now at 6.25mg a day

    Anavar 50mg prework

T3/t4 50mcg of each every morning
Hgh generic blue tops 5iu a day

Just started halo at only 5mg pre workout will go up. STRENGTH HOLY ST8T!!!

I will cruise soon do bloods mid Jan!!!
I am usually good staying on 5 months coming off 4 weeks before bloods!!!

I didn't know that about coq10. Will read up on the cautions. Will also be adding Triple strength joint supplement, Milk thistle, and NAC. Already on the rest.

Got me thinking about halo now too!

Thanks very much for the detailed info!!

Red yeast will rid too much of natural COq10
All old people on cholesterol meds buying coq10
Red yeast rice is given as script in places
Maybe not as racermic but...is a med

Try Cardarine with your cycle or off it. Helps tackle the cholestrol problem of most aas. Liv52 ED is also a good maintenance dose.

    Thanks
Your numbers dont look too bad at all. At age 56, I take it you had them checked in the past? Dr.s are quick to throw people on statins.
Try your natty stack that some here have mentioned and go get re-tested in 12 weeks before jumping on the Meds. (IMO).

    My total was 142.
    HDL 22
    LDL 109.4
    Triglycerides 53

My Dr told me these were BEAUTIFUL LIPIDS!!!!
But mine are not same as yours.

U need to do Cardio and change diet!!
Then see where u are in 8 weeks.

Consider using more test, deca, Eq, nolva as Ai!!!

The more Androgenic the worse on lipids.
But our life style, diet, and level of cardio make big difference!!!

Something that clear our arteries is MAKING OUR HEART PUMP BLOOD AT A HIGH RATE!!!

It doesn't matter if u running or D.C. Training with weights!!!

It's like a stream it's banks with slow current always
Compared to one that gets a rush of fast flow everyday!!!!

I had the same thing happen to me a while back. Ldl was way high & hdl was way low. Strong doses of niacin will help lower ldl cholesterol & was actually recommended by my dr. Also, start taking olive oil a couple times a day & it should improve your good cholesterol. Obviously, if you have a shit diet, than it won't do a lot of good & you'll probably end up on meds anyway. That will be my next step too, if I don't get mine lined out.

& btw, the niacin shouldn't drop ldl considerably, but it helps. It also helps raise hdl & can lower triglycerides. Hope this helps.

I was involved in a cholesterol investigative drug trial. I had no plan on taking the drug they had. I only wanted the free blood tests. Prior to beginning the trial they had me sign a contract. I read the contract and noticed it said not to take any flaxseed oil during the trial. To me this was very suspicious. So I went and bought some flaxseed oil. . So in 3 weeks after taking the flaxseed oil my cholesterol went down 100 points to 180 and they threw me out of the study. I did not pay attention to the exact amounts I took. I just kept a flaxseed oil bottle in the fridge and just took a swig of it every night. I tell my Doctor the cholesterol hypothesis is a bunch of crap and not to even test me for it. I refuse to pay for their bullshit tests. Lipitor is the highest grossing drug of all time, it has produced over 120 billion in profit for these jackasses.

By the way. I made no other adjustments to my diet whatsoever, I just added the flaxseed oil.

Getting a great education here! Thanks Big Beef & mkdk!

My diet is pretty clean. I track all my food intake, eat low carb, gluten free, and relatively high protein.

Muscle Mechanic, Those ARE great numbers!

My cardio is fairly solid (IMO). At 6'6", 280 running tears my knees up. Unfortunately knee replacements are in my future. So, I alternate between sled drags, pushing prowler & tire flips. Sled and Prowler I keep weights in 400lbs range. Total time on these is 20-30 minutes 4 days a week. They all gas me pretty good!

Diet is pretty good. Again, IMO. Not at competition level by any means. But, I measure, log, and track everything I consume. I try to stay at 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fats. I stay away from complex carbs and processed food. I eat 3000 cal per day.
That said, I am redoubling my efforts and will stay super strict for as long as needed to get my numbers corrected. I have also started IFing 2-3 days per week which I understand will help lower insulin and LDL.

Anyway, You all have a much better base of knowledge then me. I'm just an old knuckle dragger trying to keep pushing the weights. I very much appreciate the comments and suggestions from everyone.

This is very interesting. I have read that flaxseed oil has numerous benefits; is an excellent source of fat.

The flax oil can be bought in gel caps just like fish oil.
Both have heart heath and cholesterol properties as heathy fats fatty acids.

There is also a mixture flax and fish but only flax or only fish the ratio of
omega ,3,6,and , 9's are all different and some better for somethings but not others.

I read up on it before need to again.

But EMW14, I know u know about my red blood issue!! Brother I have remained at 15 hemoglobin since September almost 12 weeks. I haven't done this without phlebotomy's in 4 years. Normally 4-6 weeks. I stopped Vitamin C and multi vitamin my daily vitamins are listed above.

My dad is on prescription niacin the med not supplement. There us a patent of a certain form of it.
All niacin does is flush and cause flushing.
The slo-release better to not cause red face hot flushing (like when u take Viagra)

Needless to say but heathly diets that are balanced contain all vitamins and minerals
Which niacin is a b vitamin!!!

Metabolic syndrome is what is important to look out for. Being overweight having fat around waist, having bad lipids, high blood pressure then next comes high glucose levels. These are the hall marks of heart attacks and heart disease!!!

Drs all first tell us to start exercising and chance our diet when these things start to present themselves!!!
Try to change diet, lifting weights is exercise sure, but what is most important is cardio, I get LOTS OF CARDIO.
But I don't go to do Cardio like on tread mill or whatever. I adjust my training to DC training and circuits of lots of super sets.
I do main exercise for size and strength then it's non stop superset 3 move burst circuits. Each set contains 3 exercises in row with pause rest only then start again.

Having a BMI of of more than 30 no matter where body fat is will force our liver to store fat around it to supply muscle with enough glycogen. This eventually shows up as higher liver enzymes and lipids then fasted glucose.
This is called fatty liver disease non alcohol type.

Though not many, there have been studies done that shows niacin can help with cholesterol & when was the last time you got a niacin flush off eating your normal diet?? Chances of that are very slim, considering people generally have to take a large amount to get that effect & usually to get some of the extra health benefits (like cholesterol), you have to take even larger amounts. Like I said, diet & overall health are a big deal always, but things like niacin & certain oils can help to.

Btw, I am speaking out of experience because I am on prescription niacin as well. It's just another one of those things that is very common, but it can have multiple health benefits.

But we dont need flushing effect of niacin if we flushing with cardio.
The # 1 benifit in preventing hardening of arteries in men and Atherrosclerosis is diet and cardio both together.
This is a disease developed by cholesterol clogging arteries.
Niacin is an aid but correcting it is most important. Using gear puts us at higher risk if not careful!!!

It's like this I love my kids I am 42 and wanna see them graduate college and get married.
I learned long ago that I gotta keep my bf low and my BMI under 31 plan and simple.
Even if 8% BMI over 31 for too long we will develop fatty liver to be able to fuel muscle cells, so that puts us at risk.
I once was 5'8" same as now but 34 and was 8% 230lbs I realized I was never gonna be a pro and that I wasn't comfortable and was warned about the risk. I have alot of stretch marks where muscle bulged and I had high bp and bad lipids and my Dr I hide nothing from who knows what I do still today told me, it's not what u doing that will get u!!! It's the size the I was staying at.

I switched training and still have 30 bmi today and I settled for that.
Now I only try to be leaner at the 30 bmi!!
I am 7% and doing lots of cardio thru DC training. I am still far from average and have alot of size.
42 trying to stay under 10% and not over 205 at 5'8".
People always wonder why I start a blast and not gaining tons of weight.
But older muscle we earned long ago gets harder and denser as it matures, muscle fibers get harder and denser as it matures!
And I only shoot for lean gains which realilistic is 2lbs a year after 7-8 years of steady working out.
    Without insulin and what not
