    Default Carbs or Fats

Consuming carbs or fat after your workout depends on both your nutrient adaptations and goals. Obviously, keto-adapted individuals should stick to fats post-workout, whereas non-keto trainers will shoot for carbs instead. Resistance training will cause some moderate glycogen depletion, so follow the steps on the graphic to help your recovery and gains.

KETO Changed my life. I learned after training for 20 years that carbs make me fat... not fat. Sugar to me is the devil.

Amen................I have been doing keto since bodyopus in 1999, but never did it long term. As I have gotten older I don't process carbs as good as when I was younger. Keto is the best for me, I don't hold water anymore and after a couple of months energy and strength is there just like when I was pounding carbs.

Then again when I do come off and eat carbs the pump is unbelievable..........I can feel the suger running through my veins!!!!

I have done a modified keto for years... being type 2 diabetic I don't eat a lot of carbs anyway so it is a good choice for me.

Anyone combine Keto with fasting, either intermittent or prolonged? Say 24-72 hour fasting? I routinely do an 18/6 fast on my work days. I work 4, 10 hour shifts and do not eat while at work just sleep when I get home. Often I go 18-19 hours without eating. I lost about 25 pounds with this combined with Keto. I have done a few 24 hour fasts and afterwards I felt amazing. I was not even hungry coming off 24 hours. Its almost like I ate because It was "the thing to do at the time." Fasting taught me control of my mind and body. I realized I ate because I was board, not because my body needed fuel.

Like Yellow Snow mentioned above, when I come off Keto I get a good pump but its not worth it to me. Its hard to cut carbs. They are as addictive to me as gambling is to a gambler or alcohol to an alcoholic. I need to keep them as far out of my life as a I can.

I have just started playing with IM fasting and am currently holding off until 2-4 pm to start eating. It was tuff at first and it was interesting to do fasted workouts ( which is sacrilegious I know, but I have gotten used to it and like training on an empty stomach). I don't do this when in a bulk and only do it during a cut.

Now for the ultimate BB no-no................I do up to 7 day water only fasts twice a year. As I get older, I am doing it for health reasons; I see no BB downside at all at this point in my life...........kind of nice to not have to worry about my meals for a week !!

I believe that we all have to figure out what works for us. I don't care about being one of the biggest in the gym, its about trying to be as healthy as possible now days.
