jumping back in!
Retired 14 years ago to care for my daughter. Life took over and I never walked back in the gym. My last little girl passed away after a long illness, divorce etc and back to the gym. Now at 5'9 265lbs and considering giving it another try. Turned down some sponsor opportunities a couple years ago and now thinking of quietly getting ready for something next year.

There is no way to ever get over that as a father. My little girl has been gone 4 years now and I am the same. The gym has been my biggest outlet...I think it would have been different for me if she had suddenly passed, but as a dad to watch your little one die a little everyday...just not right. My little one was #29 diagnosed with Aicardi Syndrome...
I am sorry for your loss...I take comfort in believing they are in a better place and I hope to see her again.

I only got to do a few shows. I won them and then my daughter got sick from a water park we visited in ATL. It took almost 8 months to get her back to health. I had taken a year off to pack on the pounds before that incident to get ready for the nationals. Those pics were at a school my ex worked at on their stage...she has more of them somewhere and if she will ever let go of them I would have them and my contest stuff too.
I was coming out of Jax the same time Dexter was...he went on and I had to quit to be a dad. I just never got to go back... I won the Jax, ne FL, first coast which was a national qualifier and took the year off. I tried the FL one time earlier but my trainer tried to take me down to a light heavy...I was caught in between weights and couldn't make the weight. OMG, I was trying to weigh in at 194 and back then the light heavies were 188.5lbs. I sat in a car in Miami with the heater on all day, wrapped in bags and tried to weigh in again. I made it to 190 and they let me in. The damage was done and I spilled over and looked like crap. Next week came back at 216 and got the qualifier. so go figure...Took the year off and got right at about 285lbs and was sitting at 247.5 in those pics. Was ready, but I had no choice.
Now all these years later I am 44 and thinking about it again. Had some sponsor opportunities a couple years ago, but they pressured the crap out of me. Just lost my daughter and then the divorce. Wasn't in the mood to be pushed.
I am meeting with a trainer next week...see what happens. I may just be too old now. We will see. I just want to do something for me...if I can do it great, if not at least I got to finish something I never got the chance to do.

Man I appreciate that. It's all good and I would do it again. I am just not sure I can compete with you young guys. Everyone keeps telling me to do the masters, but to me that is like giving up! LOL......... The other thing is the pharms of the sport have gone light years ahead of where we were! Seriously man, we had just started hearing rumblings of gh back then. There was a rumor that Dorian was using bull growth and so we were all running to the feed stores, buying it, mixiing it with b6 and trying to shoot that crap! Have YOU EVER SEEN THAT STUFF???? Information just wasn't available. So I am playing catch up.
BTW, Chris and nuk, you guys both look great...will follow how you do.

Bro 1st of all your in better shape than 99.8% of everyone from below my age to above yours. I remember how fast you blew up, indicating your super genes, put them back to good use. U r in great shape, and it will def be nice to give it a run if u feel you werent able to complete everything you wanted to in the sport, and other than that, I as well as all your friends down here, and everyone on this board would love to see the comp pix. If anyone could do it my money would be on you.
