[h=1]Calling All Amateurs - Win A Pro Card At The Olympia[/h]
The Joe Weider Olympia Weekend continues to grow under the energetic leadership and drive of Robin Chang, Vice-President of American Media Inc (AMI) events.
To all you amateurs out there how would you like to win a pro card during the 2017 Olympia Weekend and then be eligible to compete at a future date (not during Olympia Weekend) against the elite guys and gals competing that same weekend in their pro Olympia divisions? Plus you get the opportunity to win a title with the word “Olympia” in it.
The latest initiative from AMI does just that with introduction of the Amateur Olympia series which will take place during Olympia Weekend this coming September 13-17 in Las Vegas. This is the first time the Amateur Olympia series is to be held in the USA. It is open to all amateur bodybuilders in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean. To be eligible competitors have to be registered as members of the IFBB affiliated amateur organization in their own country.
The Amateur Olympic series in Vegas involves five classes: Men's Bodybuilding; Men's Physique; Bikini; Men's Classic Physique; and Men’s Classic Bodybuilding. Please note, Classic Physique is the division introduced last year by the NPC and IFBB in the USA. Classic Bodybuilding is a class that pertains to some other countries and although sort of the equivalent of Classic Physique because it is judged differently both classes will be disputed during the Amateur Olympia Series.
Ahmad Ashkanani won the men’s bodybuilding overall title at the 2016 Amateur Olympia staged in Australia, to turn pro. Later in the year he finished runner-up at the 212 Olympia and is tipped by many to be Flex Lewis’s biggest threat at this year’s 212 event.
All divisions have multiple classes (for instance Men’s Bodybuilding has six classes, lightweight through to superheavyweight (no bantamweight division). The winners of each class will line-up for a posedown to decide the overall champ in each division. The winner of the overall will earn the title Olympia as in “Men’s Bodybuilding Amateur Olympia champion”. The runners-up in the overall in each class will also earn an IFBB pro card. Meaning 10 pro cards are up for grabs.

Those wishing to compete with will have to register by September 1, and arrive in time to check-in on Wednesday, September 13, at the Orleans Hotel in Vegas. The contests in all five divisions will take place on Thursday, September 14, in the Orleans Hotel Showroom, the venue that previously has staged the Olympia press conference. The press conference will still take place on Thursday but has been moved to the more spacious Orleans Hotel ballroom.
