IGF-1's healing ability

I know that when growth hormone is injected it stimulates the release of IGF-1 from the liver, but taking IGF-1 alone has different effects (i heard GH is better for fatloss). My question is which one is better for healing, past/present injuries, and does anyone have first hand experience with this?

The only thing that helps injury is rest. I would not suggest IGF1 for someone your age (17) as it may cause permenant damage to your still-growing body. It is a fairly new research drug and to my knowledge there has not been any research done on teenagers.

Asking which on is better isnt really easy to answer because like you said GH is converted in growth factors via the liver, so GH produces IGF-1 along with many other growthfactors. IGF-1 is definatly more potent, assuming that you are using enough GH I would think GH is better for healing. If a old injury hasen't healed properly I don't think GH can do anything for it, surgery would be the only option. Example: you break your bone and it heals slightly crooked, no matter how much GH you take the bone wont straighten itself out.

I was thinking more along the lines of tendons, for example i have torn tendons in both my forearms about a year and a half ago, and now i have to use straps on anyback movement, and i can't lock out on anything because i get SEVERE tennis elbow. Do you think down the road if i was to maybe use some growth or IGF-1 when i was in my 20's it could do anything about that? It's ridiculous how easy they get inflammed

Im not really sure, I would think if either one would have the desired effect it would be GH. But make sure you wait until you stop growing (mid 20's) because GH would have a serious impact on a developing body.

biggerstronger, I disagree dude. rest is advisable only untill most of inflamation goes down. an inteligent aproach to active rehab is the best and quickest way to recover.

Last week I cut my finger to the bone, I should have got stiches but instead I put a cotton ball on it and wrapped it as tight as I could with tape. A week latter it loots like I only have a scratch there, it seems like it healed faster then a cut like that normally would have on me. I am taking IGF-1, PGF2a, Creatine, ALA, Multivitamin. Can't tell for sure but I think IGF-1 may have heped that little fleshwound heal faster or i could be imagining it.

The cut on your hand should heal like that anyways, if your a normal healthy person. That's just the way things work whenit comes to your hands and feet and there won't be any scars. Cut my palm so deep it didn't bleed before and was closed for good within 72hrs.
As for the youngster and the elbows. Down the road it may help, but your best bet at the moment to gdet your situation under control is to find an ART therapist. Along with some rest. I am an expert on this subject as I have bursitis in almost every major joint in my body. It starts as tendonitis and progresses if not taken care of. Take care of it now or you'll end up like me and have to take 3 months off when your at the strongest point in your life and you'll lose most of it. I've been back training hard for 2 months and am still aways to go. Take care of those joints and go see someone!
