Today I wanted to talk about a very potent variation of the amino acid glutamine, Magnesium glycyl glutamine(MgGG). This molecule is what's known as an amino acid chelate(key-late) which is the AA forms a bond to a metal, in this case it's Mg. This molecule is not only significantly more stable than normal glutamine, but is actually very anabolic. In a 2014 study involving 23 bodybuilders tested the effects of 400mg of MgGG vs 2mg of oral testosterone taken once daily. The study lasted 8 weeks and the results were very interesting. The group receiving MgGG actually gained on average, more LBM, 3.2kg vs 3.0kg. There are no adverse affects on cholesterol or triglycerides in the MgGG group, but there were in the testosterone group. Now I realize this is a very small amount of test(2mg), however still shows how important amino acids and their absorption are to building muscle. 500mg of MgGG can be found in #Formula19 by @blackstonelabs. I'm honestly not sure what other products contain this ingredient. I'll look into it though.
