</header><!--?xml encoding="UTF-8"-->Also known as endurobol, cardarine, and GSK-516; GW501516 is a Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor beta/delta agonist, or a PPAR drug for short. In spite of the fact that it is often associated to SARMS (selective androgen receptor modulators), it is actually not a SARM (it's not even hormonal). However, it is popularly stacked and sold along with SARMS, so many in the fitness community will think that it is also a SARM.

GW501516 was discovered in a dual partnership between GSK and Ligand Pharma, which began in the early 1990's. In fact, there was a publication in the National Academy of Sciences in 2001, where the development of the drug was outlined. Phase 1 trials began in 2000, and by 2007 GW had completed phase 2 clinical studies pertaining to obesity related problems like diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Unfortunately, it was discontinued from medical use for reasons unknown, but has since become extremely popular in the fitness community.

Interestingly, peer reviewed scientific journals blew the lid off the drug soon after, and such important media publishers as the New York Times popularized its benefits. As a result, ahead of the 2008 Olympics, athletes started getting a hold of the drug to the dismay of doping agencies, who did not have testing protocols on it yet. It was not until the next year that urine tests were developed to prevent athletic doping with the use of Cardarine (GW).

How it Works

In terms of medical benefits, Cardarine lowers triglycerides and blood sugar. Additionally, it also helps with cholesterol levels, and improves overall heart health. As you may have noticed, these are all issues related to its main objective – reducing obesity and increasing fat loss. If that were not enough, by activating the same pathways that are triggered when we exercise, GW501516 will give a drastic boost to endurance as well.

Scientific studies made with GW

Rat studies showed that Cardarine (GW) binded to PPAR leads to an activation of the coactivator PGC-1a, which is a protein encoded with a PPARGC1A gene. The next step is the upregulation of the proteins involved in energy usage. Rats demonstrated a pronounced protection against type 2 diabetes, and a blockage of obesity from poor diet. The icing on the cake was the increase in fatty acid metabolism in skeletal muscles. Moreover, further animal studies showed a rise in good cholesterol.

Athletic uses

Based on the results of studies, and knowing how GW works, we can see it has some incredible benefits athletically, both for professional and amateur athletes. As a matter of fact, it is so effective, that it has exploded in crossfit, where it is the most popular PED used. The following are some of the benefits one can experience when using Cardarine:
  • Endurance: Since GW501516 opens up the same pathways as when we exercise, it can rapidly increase endurance. These results are actually seen very quickly according to those who have used it. Therefore, I recommend dosing Cardarine 1-2 hours before endurance activity if this is your main goal.

  • Fat loss: Some athletes have said they can be less strict with their diets on GW and still not gain any fat. For instance, fat losses of 1-3% in 4-6 weeks have been documented even in athletes who are already trim.
  • Weight training: Cardarine will allow you to go longer and harder in the weight room because your heart rate will not increase as fast during your set. Users also say they do not 'lose their wind' as fast on GW.

In spite of the fact that Cardarine can be perfectly ran solo, many athletes choose to stack it along with SARMS. Another strategy is using GW with harsher anabolic steroids that cripple lipids (such as trenbolone), so that it will balance things out in that regard.

Cardarine with Trenbolone

Most users of trenbolone will experience an unwanted side effect called “tren cough.” This “cough” is basically your lungs inability to function in full capacity due to trenbolone. It's nothing to panic about because it's temporary (during tren use), but it has to be addressed if you're going to get full benefits from trenbolone. To balance out the tren sides, boost cardio, stop tren cough, and increase training intensity, you should mix in cardarine. 20Mgs/day of cardarine is enough to combat trenbolone sides.

Side effects

Cardarine's side effects are minimal, as it is non hormonal, and has no anabolic or androgenic abilities.

GW501516 and cancer

Interestingly, some individuals are paranoid about why it was stopped from development, and have pointed to cancer in rodents as the reason. However, it is important to note that in those studies the dosages used on the rats were extremely high (1000 times regular dose, it's like taking 1000 aspirin pills at once - of course the rats died), and not even realistic for human use - neither economically, nor safety wise. Besides, a study in Australia was conducted on humans, where they used a proper dosage for 6 months, and there were no issues with tumors or cancer. What's more, the users lost body fat and had improvements in their heart health during the time.

Half life and detection times

GW's half life is about 24 hours, and its detection time is 1 month. Keep in mind that now athletic organizations do test for this drug, and you will get caught if you have used it within the past month. Though, there are cases where 60 day detection time was possible. I suggest at least 60 days waiting to make sure it's clear out of the system.

Doping with Cardarine

During the 2008 Olympics, WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) had not banned GW yet, so it was used by many of the competitors. As a result, it was banned the very next year after such a widespread usage by professional athletes has been seen. Unfortunately for the users, these days it can be easily detected with a urine test, so it is not surprising that we have seen many athletes get busted for GW use. The most well known incident took place in 2012, when the Costa Rican bicycling team were caught using this compound. Another famous case was in 2014, when Elena Lashmanova tested positive for GW after breaking the world record in the 20km race walk.

Dosage

GW should be dosed at 10-20 milligrams (mg) per day total. The two most popular ways to dose it are either half the dose in the AM, and half in the PM, or simply dose the full day's dosage 1-2 hours before your workout. The recommended cycle duration for Cardarine is 4-12 weeks. It will not pose a health threat to the user if it is used for longer, but it will lose its effectiveness if used for an excessively long time. Therefore, it is best to take regular breaks from this compound, and let the proper receptors get upregulated.

Female use

As mentioned, GW is non hormonal, and has no anabolic, or androgenic properties. Therefore, it is absolutely safe for females to use this compound. In fact, females should dose it at the same amounts as men.

I have never heard this before, anyone please confirm that this is fact or was this pulled out of the guys ass???

I don't remember who it was but it was a member here that mentioned it had "fixed" their tren cough. (I will try and find it) I have only gotten the tren cough once in 10 or so tren cycles. So I am not a good judge.

Great article
