The speculation has been put to rest. Six-time Fittest Woman on Earth® Tia-Clair Toomey will return as an Individual competitor at the 2023 CrossFit Games. That assumes that she advances through the Open, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals. However, that seems a given since she has six consecutive CrossFit Games titles on her resume, the more recent of them being dominant finishes.
Toomey took to her YouTube channel to confirm her return in 2023 when she will seek a seventh consecutive Games championship. She already has the most Games event wins in history and more Games titles than any other Individual athlete. Check out the video below:

Following her sixth Games title win in 2022, Toomey was asked if she would return and attempt a seventh win in 2023. Without having had time to think through her options, she responded with a cheeky “we’ll see,” leaving the door open that she might follow the pattern set by Rich Froning and Matt Fraser before her.
Froning and Fraser left Individual competition behind after setting the record for most Individual Games victories. Froning is a four-time Fittest Man on Earth® and switched to the Teams division to lead CrossFit Mayhem Freedom to its current dominance. He has 10 Games titles total between his four Individual wins and six Team wins.
Fraser eclipsed Froning’s record in 2020, achieving his fifth consecutive Fittest Man on Earth® title, and retired from competitive CrossFit in 2021. Reigning Fittest Man on Earth® Justin Medeiros has back-to-back Games wins and is on track to be the next in this line of CrossFit dynasties.

Before her confirmation to compete in 2023, it seemed there were other options for Toomey. She branched out of CrossFit to compete in bobsled for the Australian National Bobsleigh Team, which she helped lock a spot at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games.
Not long after the 2022 CrossFit Games, Toomey announced she would venture into the Team division at the 2022 Down Under Championship in Australia with teammates Brooke Wells and Ellie Turner. While Teams or a different sport might still be in the cards for Toomey’s future, it will not be the case in the front half of 2023, as Toomey will return for a potential seventh CrossFit Games title.
