Shortly after the Washington Nationals fell to the Miami Marlins 5-0 on Sunday, Nationals shortstop Trea Turner found himself in an increasingly familiar position across the MLB.
Multiple old tweets of Turner’s surfaced on Twitter on Sunday afternoon that contained offensive language. The tweets in question date back to 2011 and 2012, when Turner would have been 17 or 18 years old, and at least four of them contain both racist language and homophobic slurs.

Be advised that the language used in the tweets below is offensive.

A few of Trea Turner’s tweets from 2011 and 2012 resurfaced today. They include racially insensitive language and homophobic slurs. The Nationals are aware of this, and are gathering information.

Turner apologized for his tweets on Sunday night in a statement through the Nationals.

I really fail to see anything offensive about the tweets and I have no idea why the team would apologize for something he tweeted 6 and 7 years ago, long before he even joined the team. I really hate the PC culture that seems to be growing in America these days.

Another example of outrage culture. This is a lot yelling about nothing. Not to mention this is a 17 year old kid who's only learning how manage the expectations of being politically correct.

The vaginized world we live in today.

Truth, this world not much fun anymore when you cant even do any good natured teasing. These days just about everything you do is being recorded or archived somewhere. The digital world has enhanced our lives but on the other hand is making wusses out of ourselves
