The Boston Red Sox might have the best record in baseball, but one oddsmaker believes two other teams have better World Series odds. Following the trade deadline, the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series co-favorites.

That prediction comes courtesy of Bovada. The oddsmaker gives the Dodgers and Astros 9/2 odds to win it all.

</figure>You can squabble over whether those two clubs should be on top, but you can’t doubt both the Dodgers and Astros have a good shot of winning the World Series. Houston looks just as strong as it did last season. The Astros have managed to remain one of the best teams in baseball without shortstop Carlos Correa, who is inching closer to a return.

The Dodgers seem to be all the way back after a rough start. The acquisitions of Manny Machado, Brian Dozier and John Axfordshould help make them a far more formidable squad in the second half.

Red Sox and Yankees trail behind in World Series odds

The Red Sox and New York Yankees sit third and fourth on Bovada’s list. They are followed by the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians.

Behind those teams, you have clubs that are currently in good position to make the playoffs, but lack experience. That would be the Milwaukee Brewers, Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. The Diamondbacks are next, and they might actually be a solid buy. The team made it to the wild-card game last season and got better at the trade deadline.

Athletics and Mariners middle of the pack in World Series odds

It might be surprising to see the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners so low. Only three teams have more wins than them right now. One of the Mariners or Athletics, however, seem destined to be left out when the dust settles. Unless the Red Sox or Yankees go into a free fall, there’s no way both the A’s and M’s get in.

Behind them are a long list of teams stuck in the middle. Any of the Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Angels could go on a run and threaten for a postseason spot, but it would take a lot at this point.

Reds and Twins way back in World Series odds

Then there’s the rest of the pack. The teams that have no shot. In fact, six teams don’t even have odds listed now. That’s how bad they’ve been. Somehow, the New York Mets are not among those teams. They have 900/1 odds to win it all.

Do what you will with this information, as long as it doesn’t include putting any of your hard-earned cash on the Mets.

Anyone want to put 1,000 credits on the Mets at 900/1 odds? Presser would be sending you monthly IGF for years to come!!!
