President Donald Trump took a shot at Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron Jamesin a tweet Friday night.

James was interviewed by CNN's Don Lemon on Monday, after his LeBron James Family Foundation and the Akron (Ohio) Public Schools launched a new elementary school for at-risk children in his hometown.


In the interview, James discussed the impact of sports and how it brings people together. He said he felt Trump was "using sports to kinda divide us."


"Sports has never been something that divides people," James told Lemon. "It's always been something that brings someone together."


Trump's tweet came four days after the CNN interview originally aired. In the tweet, Trump also appeared to take sides in the LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan debate, saying, "I like Mike!"

What do I know abt politics but I am wondering if all this feuding is in trumps best interest. I always thought the gops could run on having the class not to get in the dirty arena of insults but I guess not. Wont this just turn off some blacks? I'm in Trumps court but at times he runs his mouth to a fualt...OTOH he seems to have great instincts on where to draw the line and when to stop

I agree. I wish he would stay off Twitter and quit getting drawn into so many battles. When you are President, you have tons of critics and you can't get into a war of words with each one.

I think he uses twitter because the media turns & twists his words so much where on twitter, its the real deal. But yes he should cool his jets on the battles, just accept that when yr DT yr not gonna get a fair shake

I think that's what his camp said early on, that he wanted to be able to speak directly to the people without the media changing it to fit their agenda. And it has worked to a great extent, but he definitely needs to tone down some of the personal attacks.

what exactly did LJ say about trump? Was it constructive critisism or was it more in yr face? Trump usually is a counter puncher responding to only the latter comments

No, I wouldn't say it was constructive. He said:

“We’re in a position right now in America where this whole race thing is taking over. One, because I believe our president is trying to divide us.

He’s dividing us, and what I’ve noticed over the last few months is that he’s kind of used sport to kind of divide us. That’s something that I can’t relate to, because I know that sport was the first time I ever was around someone white. I got an opportunity to see them and learn about them, and they got an opportunity to learn about me, and we became very good friends. I was like this is all because of sports. And sports has never been something that divided people. It’s always been something that brings someone together.”
