Syringe Filters

I've haven't used syringe filters in quite awhile, but I've been using them lately on small tester batches. I find when filling my vials ( presealed ) my vent pin is blowing bubbles and spilling out gear regardless of how fast or slow I fill the vial.. Anyone know why this is happening? Using an 18G pin..

I've also noticed that roughly 10-20ml out of 100ml batches come out cloudy or very very bubbly/air pocket filled.. Anyone know why on this one?

In either case the gear just looks like shit...

I don't like using my filtration setup on small batches but at this rate, I may have to.

I've never done anything like this so i have no knowledge but i will bump this for ya

If it is cloudy the chemicals are most probably dissolving the filtermaterial.

If air gets in the filter while you filter (usually happens because filter/plastic is getting dissolved , the oils is too hot or too much pressure is applied.

If you have bigger bubbles in it, then its most probably water or moisture that got in the vial or gear.

Thanks for the feedback brother, I'll keep a better eye on a couple things the next time around..

Just odd because it's only 1-2 vials max per 10.. It's all good once I re-filter it.. Maybe I am applying to much pressure or letting to much air in..

I'll use 1 syringe filter per 100ml and .45 sterile.. Pdvf and they are not Whatman. I'll have to check the brand, these are just for tester batches as stated..

I was under the impression these were good up to 100ml but please let me know if I'm wrong here as well.

They will plug up in high volumes and then you just push the stuff out of them after they do.
.2 micron and PVFD whatman are great for all purposes. make sure you but sterile ones.
30mls per filter are good, some go higher but I never have. theres no price on quality
