Can PEG 600 be subbed for PEG 300

Just curious, maybe an idiotic question, can PEG 600 be used in place of PEG 300?

Depends on what your using it for. The Difference is the size of the glycol chains. The bigger the # the more of a solid it is.
The bigger the number the less its absorbed (even when injected). Its not reccomended to use over 400 for oral delivery, with appropriate dilution and co-solvent. How much they hold really depends on the character of the molecule being suspended as well as cosolvent or suspension agents.(winni, dbol, tbol) will not dissolve in PEG at any #

PEG's are brutally awful tasting and they will burn if not taken with a chaser.

PEG also has temperature issues, so be careful if heating it. It will destabilize the chains and can form toxic compounds such as propylene glycol hydrazine.

The PEG 600 would be pretty viscous too - it will really depend on what you're using it for. It's a rule of formulation that the desired aspect of the material is what determines the substitute - if you wanted to make a suspension, but make it sweet, you'd have to replace the peg with Glycerine, for example. if you're just using it for the suspension effect - well, 300,400 would be about the same...600 is another story...

Lets use whinny as an example, From what i read the molecules are bigger the higher the # and would take heat to dissolve the solution the higher the # gets (above 600). So, with whinny needing 300 could you use 600. This simply for my better understanding of PEG.
