Filters for a peristaltic pump
Hi guys,
Well i decided to change my actual filtration system (electric pump with PVDF filter discs) to a peristaltic pump, as i really need to go faster. I normally do about 600-1000ml in total with different compounds but let's say that my actual system takes about 40-50 min to filter 100ml. I have in mind which kind of peristaltic pump i need, but i really don't know which filters will be the most useful for the volume i produce. So my question is, do you guys use peristaltic pump? And in that case, which filter do you use?
Thanks buddys!

I never used on of these myself but I have gotten to watch.
Get the peristaltic pump!
Get whatman capsule
Get vacuum pump
U will have around 40-60 ml stay in capsule pump won't push though once suction beaker is empty
Have media bottle cap for either to pump and use other hole as vent
Or to have suction going in with hose and capsule set up to gravity feed. Connect vac to other hole and put vacuum to filter rest thru capsule the 40-60 ml.
There u go buddy.
A good electronic vacuum also will work with capsule filter and media with this top. For suction or vent. Vac or pump.
The capsule filter is by far the best
And it is strong cause that pump will filter 1 liter in less than 10 minutes prolly 5

Ey bro. Thanks for your answer. I really dont understand why you would setup the elec vac pump, can you plz explain it? The reason to change us basically mine elec pump takes way to long(40-50 min) to filter 100ml thru a glass bottle top and flask receiver witj a 50 mm PVDF 0.22 or 0.45 filter. And doing maybe 1 liter in total i can not wait so long. So what would be your advice??

Pay attention u only use peristaltic pump with capsule.
40-60 MLS will remain in hose and capsule once beaker is empty pump will not be able to push anymore thru!
Got it!
So the Vacuum is only to get the rest to filter. This 40-50 ml

Ooohhhnow i get it. So i will have to use the elec vac anyway to push the rest out or a hand pump. And do you know if a good elec vac will go also that fast? Mine is terrible man, 50 min for 100ml is slow for my time

If u Gonna filter liters use peristaltic pump with capsule.
If u don't wanna through away the
40-60 MLS that will remain in capsule and hose unfiltered that is where you vac comes in
If u have a good vac and seal set up it goes quick too.
Example if u set up vac with a capsule filter with gravity feed and media bottle as reciever with cap with those two connections u will have an excellent seal and your vacuum will pull it straight through the capsule.
The capsule whatman is strong u will not bust or break it!
The trick to vacuum is rigging everything up correct to have gravity feed and good seal.

Right! To pull remaining 40-60 ml that pump can't push through once beaker is empty.
So get that cap go into glass media and have set up down hill and just disconnect from pump and alow vac to pull rest from other end of outlet on media cap

By the way this has worked like a charm with just vac pump.
Use unfiltered feeding flask like in photo 1.
Then route resistant line to capsule filter in photo 2
A flask or media top filter seal can be used like in photo 3. Only bottom section is used it's example with a different inline filter attached!
And reciever flask in photo 4 is what u want. Hook your electric vac up to this flask in side.
These are just examples in photos and proper size for the task can be used of course. This method worked great with peristaltic pump and vac was used to get rest out, around 40ml left behind.... well vac worked so well with good seal and thin oils like MCT or Mig that the pump wasn't even used by many who went this route!!!
I don't ask questions and don't care but that's alot of ml over 2000ml passed thru these capsules!!! So they cheap for big volumes!!!
Vacuums can be purchased with gauge that shuts off vac at set vac pressure!!! Keeping it simple I think I used -20 inHG or 0.7 bar and suction pulled thru 0.2um filter like nothing... so electric vac can be set at desired suction with automatic shut on and off to not over pull vacuum!!!
Anyway thought this further info would help even though Giru figured it out from drawing dated when I posted it. He responded via another route!!! He actually drilled his own hole in media bottle and used a rubber tube grooved beveled seal vac connector!! There are so many way including a T in vac line allowing liquid flow to drop into media. One guy does 2000ml in 15 minutes that way...
I just gather info to help and mostly into bodybuilding and PED use with proper diet and training. I am not into brewing even though I have and it's easy and never had trouble being my job is a air compressor mechanic and engines gas and diesel and has everything to do with vacuum suction, air pressure and filtering suction and pressure sides!!! From a primer pump to a cam pump to injector pump, gravity feed or suction to pump pressure fed!!! This little gear filter thing is so simple it's unreal for a guy like me so I use my mechanically inclined mind to help on this end...
But not gonna hold hands or contribute to anything illegal. This is example of vac and filter process u do what u want with it. I use these principles at my job everyday. I even modify units fully mechanically controlled for high explosion areas that any electrics are prohibited!!! U would be surprise how a force of air pressure entering and exiting the correct sized T makes a vacuum suction. I can create a vac or pump in a few minutes with just a few moving parts!!!
Have fun!!!
