I buy sterile glass vials, and toss them when I am done. I haven't used media bottles.

I do this except for baking upside down I put aluminum foil over the top and only take it off when I'm putting oil into it and quickly cap it as soon as it's filled. I have a autoclave I got off Amazon that works well too. Just depends on when I'm cooking. The clave is so damn loud when it vents pressure that I can't use it at night, which is when I usually do it...when wife and kids are sleeping.

You can buy an autoclave at Amazon or Alibaba and the rubber cover should also be disinfected

Brother an autoclave that is a giant 18 liter drum costs $180 shipped on eBay. There are no timers or fancy bells & whislers (like a timer) but it is worth it for a ton of things. You just need to get autoclave bags (cheap) and use distilled water.
Cleaning media bottle. You can run in dish washer and then clean with distilled H20 and let dry & run in autoclave. If you use an oven - dry heat sterilization should be done over a period of several hours. There is special detergent when cleaning glassware that one should use but it's not necessary. The issue is the septa and the media bottle top. An ultrasonic ($50) cleaner that does jewelry is a advised, but again not necessary. I hope this helps. You can PM me if you have questions. I don't want to turn this into a novel.

14.5 PSI and 134°C for at least 3 minutes or 15 minutes in 121°C. So you need an autoclave or some kind of pressure cooker that gets up to that pressure.

This was done in past long ago!!!

I only used personal and if this is legal where one is fine. If not I don't advise!!!

So i got metal close hanger and bend into a circle to hang glass media upside down.

Next I thoroughly washed with dial gold antibacterial soap.

I boiled distilled water in beaker and filled media vials with boiling distilled water only from safe non-metal beaker.

After that I washed with dial soap with distilled water.

    Next
I used spray bottles with distilled water and 91% alcohol.
I rinsed with distilled water and sprayed distilled to rinse turning bottles at 45 degree angle while draining.

Next I sprayed with 91% alcohol same way turning while draining.

After that I hung upside down to dry bottle top was ready to place on!!!

This may not be med standards and I don't advise it but it was done for personal brewing and made some good beer!!!

Same was done with out boiling water but with steps a few times over..
    No residue no problems!!!

Just so you guys know. Baking, rinsing with alcohol etc. Won't make it sterile.

"14.5 PSI and 134°C for at least 3 minutes or 15 minutes in 121°C. So you need an autoclave or some kind of pressure cooker that gets up to that pressure."
That's what you need to get something sterile.

It's the combination of pressure and heat that kills bacteria and spores.

TBH you won't die from not sterilizing properly and you probably won't get an infection/abscess etc. Hell, you can just use beaker and vials as is, if they are new.

At the end of the day the only thing we can do is to minimize risk of getting crap in to the gear and our bodies.
    Stay safe bros
