Default Where to Buy Protein Powders How to Store Supplements

I really only use one brand of protein powder, but my buddy will buy the cheapest he can find at the point he's looking. Do you guys typically buy the same brand everytime or just whatever has the best deal at the time?

I go for the deals but I really like extreme xt. It's taste awesome, has both casein and whey and it thickens up great. I can't stand watery protein powder drinks!

True Protein 50lb bags. Nothing but 50lbs of whey concentrate and isolate. No carbs, fats, or even labeling. It comes in a trash bag.

Protein powder is dehydrated dairy no matter how you look at it . The thing that jacks the price is all the "bells and whistles" they throw in it and the money for marketing . If it's just str8 protein I often get it at Walmart or buy in bulk . Weight gainers lately are a little different . I really like the ones with waxy maize as the carb source than other sugars .. I know guys that spend a fortune a month on protein powders . I would rather use that money for real food ..

You're right to some degree, I'll take pure cold filtered whey isolate anyday of the week no matter if it came to me just thrown in an envelope

Lol, muscletech Nitrotech did the same shit to me also. I used to stack it with Cell Tech and granted I did gain some weight (I was in high school), but I was broke from the cost of it and my ass was chapped from all the wiping I had to do, just wasn't worth it

I totally disagree. That's like saying all cars are just four wheels and an engine, but we all know there's a difference between a Porsche and a Kia. There are multitudes of things that companies do when processing protein powders besides just dehydrate dairy. You really think the only difference between Wal-Mart protein and True Protein powders is the marketing and labeling?

Both cars will get you to your destination .. One a little slower but you will have way more money in the bank . :-)
Protein powder is protein powder .. Deydrated dairy ... After that it's whatever else is put in it . I'm sure there are some bottled products that have more " muscle building products in them " than others . But I also know I have spent thousands( not hundreds) of dollars over the years on products whose claims were not met .

That said .. I have recently tried a product a friend sent that I think is a way better product than the Walmart weight gainer by muscletech . I really have had some great success with " Monster Mass " .. Appropriately named on this "Hallows eve " . I have put on almost 20 pounds .

I still think " real food" is the way to go . Protein powder is only a resort when you can 't get enough food .. I would rather invest more money in AAS and eat better ..

I think you missed the analogy. I was comparing quality of protein to build quality of a car. Either way, you are way oversimplifying the process by which protein powder is made. And that's fine, you entitled to believe what you want. If I can dig up the podcast about protein powder in the archive of the show I listen to I'll post it, but suffice it to say, you don't just dehydrate dairy and put it in a tub. And if there is a $15 tub of protein and a $60 tube of protein, they sure as hell didn't use the same process to get the end product regardless of what "extras" or "additives" they claim to use.

Regardless, I agree real food is a better choice, protein powder is a last resort.

Truthfully I haven't tried " True protein " so I can't speak of it . I am even open to what you are saying . However please be open to the fact that the $60 might have that price to cover paying its 6 figure spokesmodel and their add campaigns . BCAA , vitamins , NO, creatine , etc and that cookies & cream flavor might explain the price difference . Would it be better ? Perhaps .. But a good ole basic protein powder might get results too ...

I'm not convinced that more money means better quality . The Gucci shirt I bought had a flaw and the buttons fell off .. I was convinced by the sales person that it was better quality because it was Gucci and Italian made .. I really bought the name not quality . It too was mass produced .

I would like to hear the podcast . Sounds cool to me .. Who knows if I'm convinced I'll spend the bucks too .. I want to grow !

Cheers man .. Its all good

I can tell you that you can get quality products for cheap if the company isn't into all the advertising and fancy marketing tactics. Some of these companies will use better ingredients, but there will also be a servere mark up once it hits the store. Take muscletech for example, if you could buy it directly from them, I will guarantee that it wouldn't be $30 for a 2lb tub (if that's even close to the price anymore). But some of these companies won't sell directly to the customer and we're forced to pay the markup to some degree, of course you can get it cheaper online than say at GNC as we all know they mark up everything ridiculously. But there is a difference between protein quality, it's just a matter of knowing what you want/need and what is in the tub you're buying

In a 40 gallon Tupperware. It's right in the pantry. Doesn't give me the shits, no gas, and it has no flavoring. I only use it for my insulin shakes. Everything else is food.

Damn, we have a Petco around here, but I'll look online, that's a good idea though, especially if you buy in bulk. Does it keep it relatively fresh?

It's been almost a year since I bought the 50lb bag and put it in there and it's still fine.
