Fan air condition on or off during workout?

Some dude, who barely looks like he lifts, complained that my buddy turned on the fan at the gym. It was a sauna in there.

He complained it hindered gains and fat loss. So, let's see the science on it. Or hear some opinions anyone?

Does temperature at the gym bother you? Do you prefer to be comfy when lifting or in the "elements" does it hurt or have no effect on weight training results?

People wear hoodies and sweat suits to hold heat in to keep pumps or to shead water weight. For me as long as it’s 60 to 80 degrees I’m good. Doesn’t brother me a bit. I’m sure there some Science behide tho

I'm using t3 my thyroid levels are decently high. I am very heat sensitive. I read a few interesting things, were colder weather allows you to train harder something to do with blood. I'll have to post it for those interested.

Remember the famous Rocky scene where he trains in a freezer beating a side of meat? Rocky knew the advantage of training in the cold lmao.
 
I want it cold in the gym, but they usually keep it too hot. The snowflakes complain if it's the least bit cool in there. When I'm on testosterone, I stay hot all the time and I like cold air on me whenever possible. And I'm at the gym for a good pump, I don't want to sweat. I hate when it's hot in there.

In my humble gym I keep thermostat at 73 but have 4 dehumidifiers going cuz in lower level of building. Be interested in hearing varying viewpoints here. I prefer to sweat and I look at most hard core gyms and almost none have AC, I chatted w Brian Dobson who owns orginal Metroflex gym where ronnie coleman and branch warren train and he has NO AC, he said at times its 100 degrees in there. That sure didnt stop the champions from training there.

From a overcoming adverse conditions, training in the heat would be a plus IMHO. Kinda like the navy Seals checking the temp outside where its 100 degrees and saying Gee its too warm to train today, can we wait till tomorrow when its going to be 80? I always felt comfort wont make you a warrior, going thru and overcoming adversity will. Hence I will run in January outside when its zero, snow on street, it builds character

But I'm more than open for dissension here, please!
 
If its hot in the gym, as long as there is a fan to cool off a little between sets, I am good.

Actually in the military we do stop certain types of training over certain heat levels. It can seriously damage your body.
 
If you train in too hot a temp your hypothalamus will make your body lazy, and in too cold of temps it will make you shiver. If your muscles are shivering then they are not contracting to lift the weight. With this logic, at least on paper, an average temp would be the best for training. Think about it, you are going to have to remain in homeostasis, 98.6, the colder or hotter it is the more actual energy and focus your body will use up to maintain that homeostasis. Thus less energy toward workout and recovery, especially recovery.

Dean yes I'm ex military myself but do the special forces stop if it gets real bad? I remember when I was at sea, the seals would regularly invade our ship for practice at night. I was oblivious to the whole thing, but my shipmates would tell me at breakfast that seals were on board that night

Of course. Remember damaging military equipment is a UCMJ. :satan:
 
the heat can be a problem working out in my garage in the summer, but most of the time i just press on. i always sweat and a lot. my boy use to comment that i looked like i just stepped out of a shower. it's not that i like it, it just is. if you live in a humid environment you will inevitably sweat more. an ac can be beneficial in such places, by reducing the humidity.
 
I wouldnt go to my normal gym when his air condition was broken, lmao, im a bitch like that lol. I need the thermostat set to igloo

Why suffer when you don't have to right? I say anything that takes away from the training itself is a negative factor. If you lift more when you are comfortable then be that, if being hot and uncomfortable pushes you then do that. But recovery wise 72 degrees range will cut in to the least reserves.
