For those of you who don't know, I completely ruptured my bicep tendon doing preacher curls.

Since then, watching anyone really push themselves on preacher curls makes me cringe and I have to look away.

It is common for people to go very heavy. You will notice they are unable to to to full elbow extension and will often lift themselves up in the seat at the bottom of each rep.

Really hardcore gym bros can do this exercise with the angle of their elbow barely changing, they just sit up and down in the seat a lot.

The good news is, you don't have to do stupidly heavy curls to improve strength and gain muscle. You can use lighter loads and actually do the exercise properly.

Greater strength gains, less injury risk and 'at least as good as' muscle growth.

So, why ego lift?

Trust me guys, if girls flocked around you like moths to a flame because you grunt whilst lifting weights with shit form, 18 year old me would have been swimming in women.

I go light and do full slow reps. People talk about all the weight and then cannot do half of it if they show down the reps. Its about working the muscle, not the ego.
