    Default Deload periods for gains.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for gains is taking a deload period. This study found that trained athletes increased muscle fiber diameter by 11% following a taper protocol. This method might be useful for the bodybuilder undergoing constant and strenuous training – back off of the weights for a week or so for a boost in size and performance.

I suppose I've done this though I didn't know I was doing it, lol. After going through a couple cycles of Y3T training, I was pretty beat. Took a couple of weeks just doing light to recuperate, and I came back stronger than I was. I think that it's normal--have to let the body fully recuperate, and the light training keeps the muscle worked and blood pumping, but you're not super tearing down the muscle fibers.

I normally do moderate to low weight with higher reps with very small periods of heavy weight.
