Achy stiff neck you just wish would loosen up? Grab a rag/towel and try this! Here is a self-mobilization known as the Mulligan Snag that is an incredible tool for addressing these neck issues. Assess which range of motion is the most limited and then pick the exercise that addresses that direction! In addition to getting these neck joints moving, you should address upper back (thoracic) mobility as well since this area can directly relate to how our neck is feeling!

1️⃣ Rotation: put the rag or t-shirt around your neck and grab opposite ends with your hands. Anchor down one side and while relaxing your neck pull the top part across your neck/head and rotate your neck this direction. Work up and down to find the region that is most stiff. Relax and rotate farther each time.

2️⃣ Extension: grab the rag/shirt on the same side of each arm and anchor it just below the area that is stiff. Now while keeping the rag anchored hinge your neck back over that point to help mobilize it into extension. Work up and down to find the stiffest areas.
