Before we get into the nitty gritty of training any muscle group, it’s always important to review the anatomy of the muscle group as well as any agonist muscle groups.

The biceps, brachialis, and brachioradialis are the primary elbow flexors. The biceps are the only muscle that crosses both the shoulder and elbow, and they’re also the only one of the three that cause supination of the forearm. Regardless, all three muscles are primarily fast twitch, meaning that they fatigue rather quickly and might be better trained through moderate or even heavy weights.

Ultimately, the factors that are unique to the biceps determine the best ways to train them. We’ll get into that more over the next few days.
