FUROSEMIDE

What is Furosemide? Why it is used?

Furosemide is a very useful medication generally, it is used to treat illnesses like heart failure, liver disease, and renal disease that cause the body to retain extra fluid (edema). This can minimize symptoms including breathing difficulties and arm, leg, and belly swelling.

Additionally, this medication is used to lower blood pressure. Bringing down high blood pressure reduces the risk of heart attacks, kidney issues, and strokes. A “water pill” (diuretic) called furosemide makes you urinate more frequently. This aids in your body’s elimination of excess salt and water.

How it works?
Furosemide belongs to a class of drugs called diuretics. A class of drugs is a group of medications that work in a similar way. These drugs are often used to treat similar conditions.

Furosemide works by helping your body get rid of excess salt and water. It does this by increasing the amount of urine your body makes. This helps lower your blood pressure as well as reduce swelling.
