IMO, a lot (going into the initial decision) should be candid, self-evaluation as to your primary motivation. I personally don't know your stats/level of development, history, or base of applicable knowledge, but the decision should not be out of desperation/frustration or the hope that insulin will work where other compounds have failed or fallen short. Now, it could be that none of that applies to you, but insulin CAN be extremely dangerous, so I feel that disclaimer is necessary before I, myself, would ever contribute to anyone's potential use of it. Having said all that, my experience with slin has been (thus far) very rewarding. I have had no "frights" or negative symptoms at all - but I am a large super-heavy, very organized, very experienced, methodical, even. Slin keeps me rather full looking - just really full, plump muscle bellies everywhere - pretty much 24-7. Of course, dietary intake in coordination with insulin use is critical. It is extremely relevant you fully understand onset, peak, and duration times surrounding which specific product you use. Beyond just the bare basics of timing carb intake to stay alive and conscious, you need to consider/understand insulin's effect on protein synthesis/uptake - the primary bodybuilding advantage to slin. And again with the timing, you can't get away with what perhaps you normally could while sln is active - eat fat (or excess carbs) and you will put on fat. Once you feel comfortable with your understanding and have decided to go with it, start off slowly - feel it out a bit. Degree of sensitivity can vary between individuals. And, it is certainly not unheard of to experience an allergic reaction to a particular product. I personally find slin very useful in a variety of circumstances - and, yes, even for bridging. Not that I'm recommending endless employ of the compound - it's not unbelievable that heavy, prolonged use could (through down regulation of the receptor) make one much more prone to type II diabetes. When not using slin, I practice recovery therapy just to be thorough. Far too often I see intermediate (and even lesser developed) "bodybuilders" using ridiculous schedules and substances - I began 13 years ago as a 5' 10", 147 pound nothing, this year I can hit the stage at nearly 260 pounds. I see too many guys using far more gear than I, for too little return. It takes time, and the best initial foundations aren't even built with drugs. Good luck to you.
