ive been trying to do some different type of cardio instead of treadmill or step mill. i did martial arts for 9 years and thai boxed for 2 years. lately ive been hittin the bag 20 minutes after every workout.. do you think this could negatively efffect my recovery of my upper body. im not blasting the bag, just 30% strength, going for more movement and motion than anything, trying to really tighten my core up

if ur a bodybuilder (competitive) then stick to bodybuilding, anything else like boxing i dont see helping, but thats just my personal opinion,

as long as you arent nailing the bag its fine, and its great for cardio, It shouldnt effect you in a negative way unless ur trying to get huge and its taking away from heavier weight. U said you r going at 30% So it should def not hurt u

It's great for cardio, just don't go crazy with it. It's great for your core, I was watching something a while back that was saying that using a heavy bag is great for your core and getting rid of the "lower back fat" because when you hit the bag and your momentum stops, it causes the muscle to stop firing and gives it more of a burn this way. I can't remember all the specifics to this, but I know they were saying it's the best type of cardio to target lower back fat and to sterngthen your core.

saying the heavy bag reduces the recovery of your upper body is like saying the treadmill or stairstepper reduces the recovery of your lower body...

look at the size of some of these pro wrestlers the heavy bag is one of their prefered methods of cardio
