MY side delts are severely lacking and my front and rears are looking good. I know a lot of guys don't have a problem with the width of their shoulders, but for the guys that have the narrow scapula, how did you build them up? I talked to a couple guys at the gym and they both told me to use heavy weight on side lat raises and not worry about the weight coming up, but to really fight the negative and that should help out. They recommended having someone help me get the weight up to shoulder level and fight the negative or if I'm by myself just to swing the weight up and only focus on coming down. I tried that Friday and it seemed to really hit the sides and made them burn like I've not felt in a while, but has anyone tried this or anything else other than side lat raises or wide uprights?

I have watched You-Tube videos of Kevin Levrone and Victor Martinez doing press behind the neck on a smith machine and this was their favorite exercise for side and rear delts. They both have some of the best shoulders ever. Especially Levrone. Levrone was using about twice the weight Martinez was. I was hesitant to do the exercise because of rotator cuff tears in both shoulders, but I started with just 70 lbs. and gradually worked up to 180 lbs. for 8 reps and in a years time, my shoulder size almost doubled. This exercise only works on a smith machine because you are pressed up against an adjustable incline bench and you take the weight off the top pin. That way you have complete control of the weight. That was the biggest increase in any upper body muscle I have ever had in that time period.
