I'm pretty sure it's just tendonitis in my arm, but it's possible that it could be worse. Either way, I'm going to treat it as tendonitis at first, I usually just ice it for 20 minutes then take the ice off for 20 minutes then ice again for 20 minutes. Does anyone know of anything else that might help? I still haven't ordered an ultrasound machine (not even sure if those help for this), but was curious if anyone knew of any better way to get rid of it.

Avoid excercises that aggrevate it for a cpl weeks.. Aleve, advil, celebrex (any nsaid) will help, and keep icing it religiously. Physical therapy is an option...they will do passive ROM excercises with you which usually help somewhat.
If you still have it a month later a corticosteroid injection would be beneficial. We talking about your elbow?

As said all I know is ibuprofen as says on the bottle ever 4 to 6 hours for inflammation, ice when resting, if you got to use it then heat beforehand, then ice later. . but rest rest rest and ibuprofen. . hope it gets tofeelin better bro!

something for swelling, Ibuprofen, id start taking hyluranic acid too

I use to get it when I did chins with weight. My left forearm where it inserts into the elbow. I stopped doing them. I still frequently get it in the same spot if I train back heavy to frequently. If I back off it goes away. So back off. I would get a cortisone shot as I had one in my elbow years ago and it worked great.

Rest and Ibuprofen is all I know that helps

usually we have people begin by following RICE (rest-ice-compress-elevate) principle when they first notice symptoms. i like to add the nsaids in as well. as i said before, i think aleve works best with most people..the goals of rice principle are:
  1. Reduce pain
  2. Decrease inflammation
  3. Encourage healing of the tissue
  4. Muscle atrophy retardation
After you ice your arm try using an ace wrap to compress the joint in between re icing it.

Here is a stretching excercise that may help you...im assuming we are talking about your elbow (lateral epicondylitis)

This stretching excercise will improve flexion, extentsion and rotation of the wrist. start with extending the elbow without flexing it to increase the amount of stretch as required. Hold the stretch for 20-30 seconds. This stretching exercise can be repeated 5-10 times and done at least twice a day. Avoid stretching to the point of pain and reproducing your symptoms.

also try:

Prayer stretch is a simple exercise. Put palms together in front of the chest with fingers together. Fingers should be just under chin. Keeping palms together, lower hands towards waist, stopping when you feel a mild stretch under forearms. Hold for 20 seconds and repeat 4 times.

dont pulsate when stretching. go slow and hold it

First off, it's not really my elbow, it's more into my bicep but close to the elbow. The thing that scares me about this is that I had this before (well, I thought it was tendonitis before) and it ended up being a stress fracture of the humerus which in turn I ended up breaking into 3 pieces at the stress fracture by throwing a softball of all things. Now this pain seems to be in the exact spot as before and I'm somewhat concerned that it could be another stress fracture, although that seems far fetched being that you'd assume that with the calcium buildup at the break it'd be stronger. IMO, the break wasn't set right and this is what is causing the concern for me so I think as much as I hate it, I may have to go to a doc and get it xrayed to rule the worst out.

If it turns out that the docs agree that it isn't set right, I'm going to have it re-broke and set right because I'm not going to deal with this for the rest of my life. So I'm going to keep icing it for another week and see if it reduces at all, if not, to the doc I go.

I appreciate the feedback guys

Do you remember how bad it was malaligned when it healed? Pretty significant gap between the fragments? Also i wonder how big the callus formation was around the healed fx. Could be causing some soft tissue inflammation...

I'm not sure how badly it was malalined, but you can tell a there's a decent bow in my elbow. At one point (from the only xrays I saw), my bones were somewhere around 25-35 degrees and I know an orthopeadic surgeon told me that it shouldn't be over 15 at the absolute most, so I'm not sure where it fully healed at. Those xrays were while they were still adjusting the brace. I had one of those plastic molded braces instead of a cast. They heated the plastic up then molded it to my arm until it cooled to form the shape they wanted then drilled holes in it and put velcro straps on it so that it could be taken off or loosened as it began to heal. The whole situation was a cluster fuck and I just think the doctors were told to fix it, but do it as cheap as possible because I was told by a friend (the same surgeon as above) that he would've probably done surgery to put pins and/plates in. There's a whole fucked up story behind the insurance ordeal, but it wasn't private healthcare that took care of the bill, it was the good ole government

ahhhh...that sounds like a fucked up story....i bet if you would have had private ins you would have gotten the plate...hate to hear that

Yea man, I've always had insurance except for that short period of time and it figures that I'd break my first major bone in that time frame. It really opened my eyes up to what the government health care has potential of being like

U hit the nail on the head. I hear horror stories just like this from some of my canadian collegues

I know it'll be bad. I have great insurance now (well, again) through my work and I love it, but it's just my luck to break something in the 12 month period that I had government healthcare
