I recently decided to hire my wife's trainer to do "conditioning" training with me. We met this woman, whose name is Soonya, when we lived in Vegas for 2 years, and now that we're back east, my wife has kept on with Soonya via Skype (we have a well equipped home gym).
I broke my leg a couple of months back, and wanted to try to get some conditioning prior to starting up playing hockey again so I'm not gasping for breath (as much) when I do.
All I can say about this is HOLY SHIT! I use the term "barbell conditioning" very loosely, because often it's body weight exercises or light weight dumbbells. Apparently these are all crossfit exercises which she has modified or combined creatively.
This morning's session was mercifully not focused on legs, as i did a fairly heavy leg workout yesterday. I mistakenly thought it was going to be "easy"...
For example, she had me do "bear crawl" for 45 seconds, then immediately do burpees combined with a pullup x 15. That was one set. Rest for 15 seconds and repeat... That was only a fraction of the 30 minute workout. Sounds easy... I started off thinking, "This is a breeze". Big mistake! Heart rate WAY UP, breathing very hard, and drenched in sweat!
Awesome workouts!
