On April 14, 2022, Giants Live released the 12-man roster for the 2022 Strongman Classic, scheduled for July 9, 2022, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England. Eleven of the 12 athletes are confirmed with the final slot held for a yet-to-be-revealed “wildcard.” Here are the confirmed athletes below:

Strongman Laurence Shahlaei referred to Royal Albert Hall as the Madison Square Garden of England. He competed at the 2021 Strongman Classic to a seventh-place finish — his final contest before retiring from competitive strongman.
Also at the 2021 Strongman Classic, Iron Biby scored the axle press world record of 217 kilograms (478.4 pounds). He scored 37.5 points in 2021, enough for a bronze-medal finish. While Iron Biby does not normally compete in full competition — often receives special invitations to attempt world record lifts, as he did successfully at the 2021 Giants Live World Tour Finals — he will compete in the entire 2022 Strongman Classic, as he did in 2021.

Notably not competing in the 2021 Strongman Classic are the Stoltman Brothers, Tom and Luke. Tom Stoltman is the reigning World’s Strongest Man (WSM) champion and forewent the 2022 Europe’s Strongest Man (ESM) contest to prepare to defend his WSM title at the 2022 WSM contest, scheduled for May 24-29, 2022, in Sacramento, CA. Luke Stoltman did compete at the 2022 ESM contest to defend his 2021 ESM title but finished in second place to Novikov.
About four months separate the 2022 Strongman Classic roster announcement and the competition itself. Within that time is the grandest competition in strongman — the 2022 WSM contest — in which Bishop, Novikov, Kearney, Janashia, Singleton, and Felix are all competing. We will update this article as more information about the Wildcard athlete becomes available.
