One event was left on Saturday night for the Individual athletes at the 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games on Aug. 5, 2023, in Madison, WI: “Olympic Total.” Athletes would post heavy weights on the barbell to establish their one-rep max snatch and max clean & jerk.
Emma Lawson wore the leader’s jersey for the women for the entirety of Day Five. She scored a win in the “Intervals” event to further her overall lead over Arielle Loewen, who sat 37 points back in second overall.
Roman Khrennikov held a dominant lead entering the day. Still, a pair of critical blunders during “Intervals” let Jeffrey Adler bite a significant chunk out of Khrennikov’s lead, down to 59 points. Below are the results for “Olympia Total”:

Olympic Total Recap
Kerstetter entered the event in 21st overall, meaning that she would be the first athlete cut at the end of the night if she failed to score a big Olympic total. Athletes were charged to load their own weight plates between lifts.
Every athlete in the first heat for the women cleared their opening lifts. Baker missed her first two attempts but locked out a third lift right before the buzzer.
Williams was out at 175 pounds after failing her second attempt. Domit stomped the floor to rev herself up for her second attempt at 206 pounds but failed out at 196 pounds. Barnhart easily cleared 207 pounds.
Rayl, Wells, Stanley, and Vitesson all cleared their second lifts. Kerstetter cleared 197 pounds on her second lift before Neal failed out at 191 pounds. Kaya was eliminated at 175 pounds shortly thereafter.
Semenza missed her first attempt at 183 pounds. The crowd roared her on, but 172 was locked in as her final result. Powers missed at 197 pounds despite nearly having it on her second rep.
Kolenbrander cleared her 236-pound clean & jerk opener. Domit followed with a clean 230-pound clean & jerk. Barnhart scored a 237-pound clean & jerk opener.
Stanley split-jerked her opener to lockout. Wells cleared her 230-pound opener. Vitesson and Kersetter’s first clean & jerks were successful. Neal recovered from her previous snatch to lock in a clean & jerk. Kaya did as well, clearing 210 pounds.
Baker made 222 pounds look easy. Fuliano locked out a single pound less than Baker. Semenza cleared 217 pounds right before Powers finished the first round of clean & jerks with 225 pounds.
Kolenbrander held the lead at 447 pounds entering the final lifts. She missed 251 pounds on her first attempt and couldn’t finish the clean on her second. Domit bounced her clean twice but couldn’t lock it out.
Barnhart missed 257 pounds on her second attempt. Stanley cleared 240 pounds. Wells struggled on her clean but successfully locked out her second attempt.
Rayl cleared 210 pounds to further her total. Vitesson hauled 235 pounds to a successful clean and make easy work to jerk it overhead.
Kerstetter attempted 237 pounds, and it was child’s play to lock out overhead. Neal went for 240 pounds, and it was smooth as could be. Kaya battled through a 225-pound clean, but the jerk was too much.
Baker cleared 236 pounds without issue. Fuliano finished with 235 pounds, and it was her best lift yet. Semenza struggled to clean 227 pounds but made smooth work of the jerk. Powers closed the heat at 241 pounds and locked it out.

Freyová opened successfully at 195 pounds to open the second heat for the women. Cary cleared 187 pounds on her first snatch. Tall cleared 176 pounds to get on the board.
Brandon missed her first attempt at 175 pounds but locked out her second attempt. Thorisdottir made easy work of 180 pounds. Davi?ðsdo?ttir was solid with 175 pounds. Flores started lighter at 156 pounds but locked it out.
Rolfe maneuvered 165 pounds well to get on the board. Simmonds followed with a fluid 160 pounds. Miga?a loaded 175 pounds on her barbell and made it look like a warm-up.
Gazan opened successfully at 168 pounds. Horvath opened at 190 pounds and it was no problem. Raptis opened at 177 pounds, and it was clinical. Loewen moved up the boards with a smiling 187 pounds.
Lawson, in the red and white, opened at 185 pounds, and though it nearly collapsed to her left, she saved it to lockout. Freyová moved up to 206 pounds, and there was plenty left in the tank.
Cary locked out 195 pounds. Tall did the same at 186 pounds. Brandon recovered well from her opening lift to lock out 187 pounds but appeared disappointed.
Thorisdottir missed at 190 pounds but found her composure and cleared it on her second attempt. Davi?ðsdo?ttir’s second lift was clean at 186 pounds.
Rolfe missed her second lift and fell way back on the platform. She tried to recover but ran out of time. Simmonds, at 175 pounds, missed her first attempt. She bailed on her second and grabbed her right elbow in pain but waived off medical.
Gazan missed both attempts at 178 pounds. Horvath made easy work of 205 pounds. Raptis missed 187 pounds and did not appear comfortable. She tried again within the time cap and locked it out with speed under the bar.
Loewen held a big smile as 191 pounds went overhead. Lawson finished the round with 193 pounds overhead. Freyová started the clean & jerks at 230 pounds without issue.
Cary opened at 222 pounds, and it was technically sound. Tall loaded 236 pounds and ground through the clean but made easy work of the jerk.
Brandon opened at 195 pounds with no problems. Thorisdottir’s first clean & jerk of 225 pounds was slow and steady to a lockout. Davi?ðsdo?ttir ground out a 217-pound opener.
Flores squat cleaned 181 pounds and certainly had more in the tank. Rolfe forced her opening attempt overhead. Simmonds scored a balanced 175-pound opener.
Miga?a moved up the board with 225 pounds on her first clean & jerk. Gazan, at 235 pounds, recovered well and locked it out. Horvath took the overall lead with a 245-pound lift.

Simmonds was smooth at 205 pounds. Miga?a scored 245 pounds to end her evening. Gazan loaded 248 pounds successfully. Horvath locked out 265 without issue to take the event win.

We’ll see if Khrennikov can continue to hold his lead to claim the title of Fittest Man on Earth®. Likewise, the crowds in Madison will see who will be the first Fittest Woman on Earth® other than Tia-Clair Toomey for the first time in seven years.
