The 2021 International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Championships was an extravaganza of world records. The contest took place in Halmstad, Sweden, from Sept. 29 through Oct. 3, 2021. The Woman’s 84-kilogram class was the stage upon which Amanda Lawrence stole the show. Her gold-medal performance racked up an IPF raw world record squat and IPF raw world record deadlift. This successful title defense from the 2019 IPF World Championships makes her a two-time IPF world champion.

2021 IPF World Championships — Amanda Lawrence | 84KG
Lawrence had a near-perfect performance hitting eight of her nine attempts.

  • Squat — 243.5 kilograms (536.8 pounds) — IPF World Record
  • Bench Press132.5 kilograms (292.1 pounds)
  • Deadlift — 260.5 kilograms (574.3 pounds) — IPF World Record
  • Total — 636.5 kilograms (1,403.2 pounds) — IPF World Record
Lawrence’s official bodyweight for the contest was 83.26 kilograms (183.6 pounds). That means her world record squat was just shy of three times her bodyweight and her world record deadlift over three times her bodyweight. Lawrence’s competition record in 2021 is nothing short of stellar. In addition to her win in Halmstad, she scored gold at the 2021 USA Powerlifting Nationals in June 2021.

According to Open Powerlifting, at 24 years of age, Lawrence has competed in 16 sanctioned powerlifting meets and only missed the podium a single time — her fourth-place finish at the 2017 USA Powerlifting (USAPL) Raw National Championships. Of the other 15 events, she won gold in 11 of them, silver in three more, and a single bronze at the 2019 Arnold Pro Deadlift. Her career win rate is 68.8 percent.
