At what point do you guys feel it’s time to drop a coach?

I feel like a lot of people stay with coaches way longer than they should because they get attached, feel loyal, or convince themselves things will magically improve. At the same time though, people also jump ship too fast whenever progress slows down for a couple weeks.

A good coach should obviously help you improve physically, but I also think communication, attention, honesty, and actually giving a damn matters just as much. If you’re paying someone every month just to get generic one word replies, copy paste plans, or check in responses that feel rushed, what are you really paying for at that point?

I’ve also seen people blame coaches for everything while ignoring the fact they skip meals, miss cardio, train half assed, and then wonder why nothing is changing. So it definitely goes both ways.

To me one of the biggest red flags is when a coach stops adapting things. Same training. Same food. Same protocol. Week after week while progress completely stalls. Another one is when you start feeling like just another payment instead of an athlete they actually care about helping.

At the same time though, progress in bodybuilding is slow and sometimes people expect miracles way too fast, especially after seeing all the fake social media transformations.

Curious what everybody else thinks.

What are the biggest red flags that tell you it’s time to leave your coach?

Have any of you ever regretted staying with a coach too long?

Or on the flip side, have you ever left a coach too early and realized later they actually knew what they were doing?
