Bodyweight Skull Crushers – Barbell and dumbbell skull crushers are popular variations, but have you ever tried them with bodyweight? This can be modified for most ability levels by adjusting the height of the bar. It’s practical too since it requires minimal equipment.
To effectively hit the triceps, bend only at the elbows. Try to keep your body as straight as possible and avoid bending at the hips. Easier said than done, I promise you.
Make sure to place your hands high FIRST and gradually increase the difficulty by working your way down as you get stronger. For maximal tricep activation, train the full range of motion and aim to lower your head below your hands each rep.
Tip: Once you reach technical failure, immediately go into close-grip strict push-ups with your elbows close to the body to really polish off your triceps.
