The third edition of the Magnús Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic (MVMSC) is set for Nov. 10-12, 2023, in Reykjavik, Iceland — the home country of the contest’s namesake. Four-time World’s Strongest Man (WSM) champion Magnús Ver Magnusson is routinely the head judge and major Giants Live contests, including the WSM competition, and is likely to do the same for the 2023 MVMSC, which will feature 12 elite strongmen competing across nine events:


The 2023 MVMSC will be live-streamed for free on the Rogue Fitness YouTube channel and on magnusclassic.com/live. Each day of competition will begin at 11:00 a.m. GMT.

Keene triumphed at the 2022 MVMSC and will return in 2023 to defend the title. The only other MVMSC classic is the inaugural champion, Maxime Boudreault of Canada, in 2021. Boudreault most recently competed at the 2023 Rogue Strongman Invitational in Round Rock, TX, to a sixth-place finish.

2023 Magnús Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic Events
The three-day competition will feature three events each day as follows:


Day One — Nautholsvik Beach
Day Two — Husafell
  • Mjolnir Front Hold
  • Husafell Stone Carry (1:30 p.m. start)
  • Stone Farmers Walk
Day Three — Kraftvelar
The winner of each event will be awarded 12 points. With nine events, the maximum number of points possible is 108.


In 2022, 14 athletes competed at the 2022 MVMSC. With eight events, the maximum number of points possible was 112. Keene won the contest with 87.5 points to Boudreault’s runner-up 81.5 points.
