Brazilian light heavyweight John Allan has two fights booked for the next months in the UFC. | Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports John Allan will fight Roman Dolidze at UFC 255, a pay-per-view card scheduled for Nov. 21, but that won’t be his first fight back from suspension after all.
Multiple sources told MMA Fighting that the Brazilian has agreed to replace Gerald Meerschaert against Ed Herman at a UFC Fight Night on Sept. 12. He will remain booked for the November show depending on the result of his next fight and his condition afterwards, sources said.
The reason for Meerschaert’s withdrawal was not disclosed.
Meerschaert vs. Herman was rebooked for September after Meerschaert tested positive for COVID-19 on the day of his fight with Herman on Aug. 1.
Herman (24-14, 1 NC) hasn’t fought in almost a year. “Short Fuse” put an end to an uncomfortable three-fight losing skid by knocking out Patrick Cummins and then earning a decision victory over Khadis Ibragimov in 2019.
Allan (13-5, 1 NC), a Dana White Contender Series’ talent, made his UFC debut in July 2019 and defeated Mike Rodriguez after three rounds, but the result was overturned by the California State Athletic Commission after Allan tested positive for tamoxifen.
