Another world record has fallen at the 2023 Rogue Record Breakers (RRB) featured at the 2023 Rogue Invitational. Kevin Faires, a notoriously strong lifter in static hold events, scored a new Dinnie Stone Hold world record of 41.31 seconds in the concourse of the Dell Diamond Stadium in Round Rock, TX.

The Dinnie Stone replicas used match the uneven weight of the stones that inspired them. A total of 332.49 kilograms (733 pounds); one stone weighs 188 kilograms (414.5 pounds), and the other weighs 144.47 kilograms (318.5 pounds). Faires wore a lifting belt and knee sleeves while performing the hold but forewent any supportive wear on his elbows or wrists. Of course, his hands were a ghostly white covered in as much chalk as was available.

Following the lift, Faires was unsure if the previous record of 39.85 seconds scored by Mitchell Hooper at the 2022 RRB was felled. After seeing the official result with the judges, Faires’ fist flew skyward as a roar of elation surged toward the crowd. Faires recaptured the record Hooper claimed from him one year prior.

Faires is a dominant force in static lift events involving stones. He is the current world record holder in the Dinnie Stone Walk of 31 feet, seven inches, scored at the 2023 Rogue Record Breakers event in Columbus, OH, featured at the Arnold Sports Festival — a record he also broke one year prior at the 2022 RRBs.

Faires’ three most recent contests were the 2023 World Strongman Championships, where he finished eighth overall, a pair of ninth-place finishes at the 2023 Shaw Classic, and the 2023 Giants Live Strongman Classic. He is expected to compete in various elite strongman contests throughout the 2024 season leading up to the 2023 World’s Strongest Man contest.
