A new lightweight champion will be crowned at KSW 57 on Dec. 19 as Marian Ziolkowski battles Roman Szymanski for the title that was vacated by Mateusz Gamrot after he inked a deal to join the UFC.
KSW officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Tuesday.
For Ziolkowski, this will serve as another opportunity to claim the KSW lightweight championship after he came up short in his last fight when he lost a decision to Gamrot back in August. Now Ziolkowski will attempt to wrap KSW gold around his waist when he returns on Dec. 19 after earning a pair of consecutive wins in the promotion before falling to Gamrot.
As for Szymanski, he’s put together a 5-2 record overall since joining the KSW roster including back-to-back wins in his two most recent fights. He earned a decision over Milos Janicic before earning a third round TKO against Filip Pejic in his last outing.
The lightweight title fight between Ziolkowski and Szymanski joins a growing KSW 57 card, which will also feature a heavyweight title fight between Phil DeFries and Michal Kita.
