Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Former The Ultimate Fighter competitor Rachael Ostovich has been released from the UFC following her latest loss to Gina Mazany in November.
Multiple people with knowledge of Ostovich’s release confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Monday after an initial report from MMA Junkie.
Ostovich joined the UFC roster after competing on TUF in season 26 when the promotion crowed the first ever women’s flyweight champion. She earned a victory over Melinda Fabian in the opening round of the tournament but then lost a decision to Barb Honchack in the quarterfinals.
Following The Ultimate Fighter, Ostovich competed at the show’s finale, where she picked up a submission win over Karine Gevorgyan. Unfortunately following that fight, Ostovich failed to get back in the win column with losses in her next three appearances.
She suffered submission defeats to Montana De La Rosa and Paige VanZant before the TKO loss to Mazany that marked the end of her run in the UFC.
Overall, Ostovich sports at 4-6 record with a 1-3 mark in the UFC.
Just recently, UFC President Dana White promised that the promotion was going to be purging the roster with around 60 cuts expected before the end of the year.
