Do you lean your head forward or kind of look up when doing shrugs, I have always leaned forward but think I am gona try positioning my head looking up

I've never been a fan of the IDEA of leaning your head forward though I do them like that on occasion... I feel too much like that would cause your neck flexors to become very over-active...

I look as high as possible on a set then put my chin on my chest for the next one and do 3 sets of each

I look straight ahead and go straight up and down . I still see guys rolling their shoulders which I don't understand but hey who am I to tell them how to do them correctly lol

Those guys that roll drive me up the wall too... at that point it's not a trap workout its a complete "shoulder complex" workout. I do variations to all my workouts but by far my fav on traps is a straight bar, behind the back, palms facing rear, pinching my shoulder blades together... great trap isolation.

I use the Hammer shrug machine and I lean forward and then drive the shoulders straight up while looking forward. It's all traps and keeps the pressure off my lower back better

I usually do them looking down slightly or straight ahead. It feels like more range of motion looking down. I've never understood why some do them rolling. I can't think of any benefit that would be, but whatever.

this was some old school shit that was proven long ago that didn't work but people still do them
