After you turn pro, what do you guys believe is the difference of being a Mr.Olympia contender, vs. a good pro who has placed in the top 3 in a pro show (except the Mr.O and Arnold)

One of the guys on PM posted on this, and some say drugs, others genetics, while others said it was the shape of the muscles, and overall body shape.

what do you guys believe is the differnce of say, Dennis Wolf vs. Frank McGrath ? or Craig Richardson ? or Joel Stubbs ? or Johnnie Jackson ?

Could a second tier pro (in the Mr.Olympia) like Craig Richardson, or Johnnie Jackson turn into a top 3 Mr.Olympia ? If he changed up his gear, or diet or training ?

How about this question - Could someone like Brandon Curry, who is on the verge of being great and a top 6 Mr.Olympia contender. What could he do to get to that next level ? Diet, training, gear ? What could he do to get just that 5% percent better to get to the next level ?

Do you guys believe that someone like Nuk be a Mr.Olympia contender with a few more years of training ? How awesome would that be ? He has the correct shape, the hardness, now he just needs more fullness to his legs and overall size, is that something you guys think he could do ? I believe he will be pro within the next 2 years, as long as he continues at the pace he is at now. But, what does he need to do to get to the next elite level ?

This should be a interesting thread ...give it a go guys

As far as the pro guys, getting to that top Mr. O status, I think he may be the higher drug use, mainly hgh and insulin, pushing their great genetics to the max. Money may be the main reason that holds them back. Gotta have that shape to. As far as me, I think its just time and more focus on my training for a purpose. The gains I have made in 3 years is crazy, and I still weigh in the same. With that being said I feel I need to really push the hgh, and insulin to get to a pro look. I still making gains, I feel I will be even better and bigger at Nationals in Nov. Than I was at jr usa's in May. Thickness overall is what I feel I'm lacking the most.

Going to agree with Nuk on the hgh and the slin, but heres something to consider. Our bodies are ever evolving. When you think you have it figured out is when you are going to hit the wall. You or someone close has to have insight on how to switch things up training or nutrition wise. Then you have to have some sort of genetics. you dont need killer genetics, just genetics. If it were all drugs and eating, then anyone with discipline and work ethic could do it, but its so much more than that.

Chris we were just talking tonight about the drastic differences with me in 04 vs 08-09. I wasnt even the same build or type of person and i was clean, but i wasnt anywhere near what i was in 04. Why? many reasons, but mainly i lost track of how to manipulate me. I started reading too much into other techniques and trying this, trying that, and it was all bullshit made to sell magazines or systems.

To sum it up, the guy that keeps evolving and keeps working from within can do whatever he so chooses. The others just fade and say "hey i won my pro card" I think most just do it for that reason to start with

This is an outstanding topic. Personally it's my belief that the basis is rooted in genetics. At a certain point the drugs, training, and diet just flick on a switch internally and a person who appeared to have very good genetics transcends what they were. Heath would obviously be an exception. From what I see of Nuk I believe he has this ability. The only question is how far will it go. The gains he has made in 2 years have been mind blowing and his usage has been moderate.

I think genetics will play a huge factor, but then obviously the ability to run hgh and slin to the max will push those great genetics to the max. Obviously all of the pros have good genetics, but I think it's the drugs that'll separate the good pros from the elite pros

Essentially I think its a combination of both. Genetics foremost. Not just the natural shape to begin with, but the ability to utilize the drugs better than most and the ability to use huge doses without severe side effects and health issues. Although even those that can tolerate the drugs may well end up with damage if others used those same dosages might be seriously screwed in terms of BP, organ health, and other bodily functions.

Same thing I said at PM...a good sponsor backing them...get picked up by muscletech, gaspari or weider and Your placings just jumped
