The winner of this heavyweight bout stays in the running for a title shot. Both Blaydes and Lewis have gone on winning streaks only to fall short of capturing the belt. Lewis is a one-time title challenger who lost a lopsided decision to now-former champ Daniel Cormier. Since then, he’s gone 3-1 in the octagon, losing a decision to ex-champ Junior Dos Santos before winning his next three bouts, most recently a knockout of Aleksei Oleinik at UFC Vegas 9.
Blaydes, meanwhile, saw his title dreams delayed by current No. 1 contender Francis Ngannou, who stopped him for the second time in a 2018 meeting. Since then, he’s won four straight fights, most recently outpointing ex-Bellator champ Alexander Volkov at UFC Vegas 3.
